I just recently purchased a pair of replacement brown stones for my Sharpmaker and one of them is really tight going into the base. It took some wiggling but I got it in. Has anyone else had the same problem?

Yeah... the Sharpmaker I got my sister last year was a tight fit for the brown rods. I got 'em in and they stay in place nicely, but it was a tight fit.
Doesn't matter to her, though. The Sharpmaker is all she uses for sharpening so whatever angle the rod is holding is the one she's gonna put on her knives. And it's gonna be very close to the listed angle (either 30 deg or 40 deg) even if it's not dead on.

Yeah, I just kept working it in and out of the base until it went in easier. Still snug but I finally won.
