Took a few random pictures of my JK Kephart HD and Pocket Kephart today and thought I'd post.

Split a couple of sticks of white oak with the HD to smoke some burgers.

I took these pictures in the yard. It's been raining like crazy around here lately. It slacked off yesterday evening and I decided to grill some burgers and take a few pictures. As I was taking pictures it started to rain again. It's actually raining now :)

I made the bead and lanyard.
My boy cut a couple Maple limbs a few months ago and had them laying on the porch. I used my SAK saw to slice off a few pieces and then used the reamer to make a hole in them. I thought it would be a good match for the handles. I made the lanyard long enough to use when chopping. If I untie the two center knots and slide the bead back, it's just long enough to hook on my thumb and wrap around the back of my hand. I figured the bright blue lanyard may come handy in case I drop my knife and it also has a reflective strand in it.

it's a cool looking bead and lanyard, no need for me hash jobs. I have some maple burl scraps laying around and some lanyard material if you ever need more though :)

I appreciate the offer.
I was looking at the picture thread and you do some very nice work. The sheaths, handles and matching beads you do look great!

If you ever need any scrap leather, let me know. I go through a lot of leather and some of my scrap is actually good leather but may just have a few too many scars, wrinkles or marks on it. I actually make some of my personal gear out of this leather and I like it as I think it adds character but I try to work around most of these things for customers gear as I'm afraid they won't like it. Sometimes a holster or sheath is going to a have a scar or mark on it though as it's near impossible to work around all of them. That's just leather. Anyway, I'd be happy to pick you out a few good pieces to send you for your personal sheaths.

thanks for saying so, I really like the look of your leather works, and thanks for the offer, having trouble finding leather near me and all the options on tandys website just confuse the heck out of me so i may drop you a line sometime if it's okay :)

That would be fine, just let me know. Maybe I can get you to make me a couple of those fancy beads to use on lanyards. Yours look much better than mine.

Also, if you ever have any questions about leather work or leather I'd be glad to help if I can. I don't claim to know everything though as I am self taught

Here's a field holster I made for my 686 out of a piece of leather that I would have otherwise scrapped.

Any time, the beads don't take long, normally do it when something else is gluing up, fun and kinda relaxing :) got maple burl, walnut and cocobolo scraps at least just sitting around.

I'm glad you didn't scrap that leather, it would have been a real waste, beautiful :)

Nice holster! Very nice - and the picture shows it off well too.

Here is a shot of the pile of gift lanyards Peter made and gave out to us at the last gathering up north -

I selfishly took two - one for my LRK+, and one for my "Dress" viKtim; which, by the way, has been shipped out to another friend of JK Knives to have a sheath made.

I think we all would like to see more of your leather work if you feel like sharing with the JK Krew -

Don't go out of your way but I would like to get two beads made from some medium-dark colored wood if you have it and don't mind fooling with it. I'd be glad to pay you.

Thanks for the compliment on the holster. When you get ready for some leather, let me know ahead of time and I'll pick you out some. I went and took a load to the dump not long ago so it may take me a few days to pick you out some good pieces.

I appreciate the compliments.

Here are a few more pics of some gear I made.

Here is a IWB holster and OWB mag carrier with custom Black Shark trim.

Here is a sheath and and matching field holster I made. My wife (Kay) does all of the carving and tooling. I tried to do some stamping on the 686 holster I posted above but I was off a little. She does a much better job than me.

Wow! Nice stuff! You and your wife make a great team.

The acorns and oak leaves are very nice, a good theme for the decoration too.

That elephant really caught my eye - that is beautiful.

thanks for the pictures! Nice Pieces too.
