Took My Fiddleback Machete On Vacation

Hey Tod,

Thanks for sharing the amazing photos of your vacation. You do a great job of capturing your use of knives doing fun stuff.

My favorite photo is the happy face Coconut Man. That shot shows great family resemblance to...

I hope that your family enjoys many more vacations like that. Thanks for sharing my friend!

Wow! Those are amazing pictures. I'm so proud to have been along! What an experience that looks like.

I highly recommend Heber ( Wildmanh ) for an excellent machete sheath.

Thanks for the recommendation! His machete sheaths look great. For awhile I was thinking about going with kydex but I will probably end up going with a leather one.

That was an amazing post Todd. I always enjoy seeing the joy in your son's face. He's no doubt a blessing in your life !

Speaking of stainless Kepharts, the very first Fiddleback I managed to shark was a CPM-154 Kephart with simple Natural Canvas handles. It's a cool knife in a simple, uncluttered kind of way. I remember Andy commenting that it was hard one to let it go from the shop. I'm sure glad he did.

Thanks Peter! Yes, sharing a trip like that with my son makes everything a million times more special.

A CPM-154 kephart is a pretty awesome first score I would say. I would love to see a pic of it!
Sweet post! Looks like a great time.

Thank you Odaon!

Thanks for making such amazing tools Andy!

Any photos of any sloth? Did you see any while you were there?

Unfortunately, we didn't get to see any sloths in the wild. We did get to see some very cute 2 toed sloths at an animal sanctuary. One of the places we stayed had a little sanctuary associated with it. They take in animals that have been confiscated by the government from illegal owners or ones that have been injured or abandoned. The sloths were pretty dang cute.

Sorry to hijack but had to share this story.

Great photos by the way!! Costa Rica is like heaven on earth really. I went down there for a friends wedding an was only planing to be there for a week but ended up staying for 8 more weeks and only spent 4000.00. We stayed over in Manuel Antonio at Mango Moon Hotel, Hotel Villa Caletas an then stayed wit home local friends..
This was a wild two toe sloth that we happened to come a crossed on a hike in the jungle. Friends of mine have lived there for about 10 years and they said they have never seen a sloth come down from the tops of the trees before. They come down right before sunset to go the the bathroom but they never touch the ground in their lives. Then they go back to the top of the trees start looking for dinner. My buddy in the photo is about 5 foot 5 tall and this sloth was a big one. He touch the sloth a little too hard and then it dropped down and tried to swat/attack him. People think the sloths are slow but this sloth dropped down and came at him in a blink of a eye. Next time you go down there hasco hit me up Ill put you in touch with some very kind folks down there. Chuck

Wow! Those are some close up shots. Sounds like you got a pretty rare sighting. Most of the folks I talked to who saw them in the wild said they were pretty high up in the trees. Thanks for sharing the pics and story. I will definitely hit you up if we ever go back.

That is close. No danger from those then?

Hey you go Todd....... Like I said nothing fancy, just a solid stainless steel Kephart......pretty rare these days:
