Took The Brute To The Cabin

Hey Dubz, I just noticed the same kind of rust on my brute when I took it out this morning.
I had cleaned and oiled it before I put it away....frustrating.
I scrubbed it really good and lightly sanded it, but the rust pattern is still kinda there.
I'm hoping that after a lot of use it will develop a natural patina and help protect it a bit.
Otherwise I may need to look into coating options...

Now that I think about it, I had a Camillus 7 that did the same thing.
If memory serves me, I think I did a hot vinegar patina and it seemed to slow down the rusting issues, but not get rid of it completely.
Keep me posted if you find a remedy. I'll be sure to do the same.

Here's a few pics after a fresh scrubbing, sanding, and wiped with mineral oil.
You can still see where the rust was.





 
I sanded mine as well, but you can still see where it was. I think I'm gonna sand on it a bit more, then do a mustard patina, or some kind of patina. I was thinking of bluing, then lightly sanding it. Not sure what I'm gonna do, tbh.
 
so, instead of sitting on my butt thinking i should get out more, i got out more. took the dog and my kid for a picnic. when i get the time i'll post some photos.

I myself have a get away cabin and honestly it's the best investment I ever made! It's so nice and relaxing. I have the same grill over my fire pit too. Nice pics for sure.
 
Oh yeah. We have a Gardner snake we see every time we pack up to come home. Kinda like your turtle. It's funny cause we only see him on Sundays when we pack up the truck. Like he is saying good bye. Lol
 
Thanks guys, appreciate it. Just got back from another overnighter. Gave the BK4 a workout this time. Twas fun indeed. I'll post maybe tomorrow night. Got skunked on a turtle this time, but we're still 6 for 8.

Didn't name it, haha. The guy that lives in the neighboring cabin says he names them, then spray paints the initial on their shell.
