First off... a BIG thanks to KnifeHunter for being my proxy at Knob Creek!!!
He helped me score what I was hoping would be the perfect BWM... and she IS everything I'd hoped she'd be!
Thanks T... a cloven hoof salute to you my friend!

The first wack is always the hardest to do...

All the way up to the spine... the wack had only a medium strength swing behind her. She did twist a little and turn down along the grain.

Maybe it was the tip glancing off a near by branch.

The CF BWM is GREAT! Garth and team have done a really nice job blending the primary convex grind into the convex cutting edge.
Gives it that sweet cometition edge!

Sweet knife...your proxy hooked you up on that one...congrats.

I'm hoping to score one on the ganza.

With the recent heavy rains and flooding up here,
I had a tree that uprooted off in the woods at the edge of my property.
Thought it would be a perfect task to try out my new CF BWM on.

that first set of pics was just removing a few limbs to gain access to the
trunk. This tree also was a perfect test because it had a 3" to 4" thick
dead branch, as well as some nice green live wood.

I didn't capture all the pics I had intended to...
guess I was havin' too much fun!

But here's the first wack into the dead wood... again with medium force.

After a few chops... notice the nice long, clean slice thru the dead hard wood on the right side.
It was from a secondary chop to open up the notch for better cutting.

Not too bad for such a light mistress. :D

Here's a tip shot that shows a bit of the convex edge the shop put on these...

I forgot to take the finished chopping thru pics on this branch :o
But she did it just fine! :p.

Oh... and this is all with the edge that came out of the shop.

The BWM's are a lot more blade heavy than you might think for a 3/16 blade ..... great for chopping  Congrats on the score Lil Foo ..... nice to see a write up on the CE version ..... like you say they have done a cracking job on the edge ....

Now on the the main trunk... back to the live. green wood.

As soon as I hit the center, she spit from the weight of laying sideways.

Finished her off...

sweet. I really need to get one of these. Much lighter than my beastly FBMLE.

Looks like it chops great for it's size.

I had a similar chopping experience with my CG BWM today. It ate a small tree for an appetizer.

THanks for taking the time to post pics and write-up.

She cleaned up nicely with warm soapy water...

What seems to be my favorite knife shot angle. :)

Hope you all enjoy the pics!

Great shots, and a great score. Im really glad to see you using her as well..it always seems a shame to me when they get left in a safe.

We got rain and floods??? My cabin in Lakeville has JUST seen dry land again all 'round. The dam(n) isn't completely underwater anymore either.

Great shots, Foo. Almost makes me wanna get one.

Since I know you have at least a million mistresses, how does this one compare? Comfort of handle? Ease of use? Chopping ability? :D

Did'nt realise more pic's were to follow .... cracking write up and pic's L/F ..... if I had known the CE versions were coming I would have held off for one ..... my own home made version took me a good while to do and shows scratches a lot more .... the BBDC CE finish seems to hold up really well ....

Thanks guys! :)

I've been wanting a light chopper for a while...
I was a little worried about all the comments on the CGs not being good choppers.
I think she does just fine! I don't plan on building a log cabin with her, and really
like her weight and agility for all the other knife tasks beyond chopping.
She's not too heavy on the belt, so I'll be likely to have her when I need her most.
I'll put her thru the paces over the summer, but at first use... I LIKE HER!

Where da pics? :p
I was about to break down and use one of my CGs...
But couldn't pass up all the work already done for me in stripping and cleaning her up,
not to mention the work on the edge.

Don't you worry... I have plenty tortured mistresses in the safe. :D
Nothin' wrong with torturing your mistress. ;)

Glad to hear things are finally drying out!

In the thick of it, I had a river running down the side of my house
and a new lake in my back yard. Thankfully, I only had a puddle end up in my basement.

Oh... you should get a BWM. I still need to do a comparo with the SHBM, but
first impressions on these is great!

Haven't been out chopping for a while and wanted to give this one a try with a clean slate so to speak.
I will do a comparo with a shbm at some point though. From a grip standpoint, I'm a little torn...
The BWM's handle does avoid the pinky pinch you can get with a shbm, but it has a larger, bulkier swell on the bottom part of the tang.
Makes it feel very tall and almost bulky in my hand, especially with the beefier grips. Thought the additional swell would help with blade twist, but my first swing
ended up twisting in the cut. For straight out chopping, my gut tells me the shbm out chops the bwm by a fair bit, but the shbm I've used is around .270", maybe .280" thick. They are both the lightest and most agile mistresses out there though.

The tigerhide looks great on the competition finish. One of the most beautiful combinations i've ever seen.

Thanks... I really like it too!
But it's not really tigerhide... it's a new layered black & tan canvas.

.

The DC is starting to grow on me... it does look really cool.
I've always stayed away from it when I can because it doesn't do the well when stored with all the humidity where I'm at. It's funny, if I keep it out and active, no rust issues at all. It's in long term storage that it pits like crazy... even oiled up.

Im really liking the looks of theese CF BWMs I just cant justify buying one seeing as I just got my LE BWM, also doubt I could find one.

Great pics BTW!!!
