I've always stayed away from it when I can because it doesn't do the well when stored with all the humidity where I'm at. It's funny, if I keep it out and active, no rust issues at all. It's in long term storage that it pits like crazy... even oiled up."

Storage can be a "nightmare" but it is interesting the point you make about "usage". I had a Jackhammer CE and aside from giving it a tweak on the edge I never did anything to it. I used it a fair bit .... not a lot .... but when I used it I did as you do and washed it in soapy water and used a nylon and sponge pad to get the marks off ... dried it and put it back in the kydex sheath un-oiled if I was going to use it again. It went through loads of rainy days etc and no problems with rust.... and it is ALWAYS wet up here for most of the time. It never rusted and it just goes to show that the carbon layer is either removed on some examples or is not an issue and maybe comes off from regular cleaning .... could be simply batoning the knife through a fair bit of wood does the trick?

Whichever way .... the only time I panic about damaging a knife is when I am laying them away in a drawer .... rust does'nt happen now .... but I had the odd shock a few years back before I started to prep a knife to be "laid down" ....

Looking forward to the BWM v SHBM comparison :)..... will you use the ASM SHBM or a normal grind ? If you are doing a comparison and using the ASM .... can I ask you to try a bit of fine work such as feather sticks etc .... I am fairly sure that the ASM edge just seems to slice a lot better .... almost like a Scandi edge which usually I put down to the Scandi bevel acting like a "plain" on the wood .... the off set ASM edge for a right handed grip seems to work the same way .... very controlled on the cut to get it to curl .... but the convex grinds often want to bite too deep .... or so it appears to me .... at least when making "fuzz sticks" .... I would be interested to see how you found things .... but I am fairly sure an ASM edge makes curls in wood a lot easier than I can do with a convex grind  :D

Great pics Foo and congrats on the score, T is a solid Hog to deal with:thumbup::thumbup:

How did the edge hold up when you were done? Did it retain that wicked edge?

Thanks for the sweet pics. I can't wait to get mine and beat it as well.

Can you tell me, since you have this and a CG, will this fit in a CG sheath or is it too thick?

.

Foo,

YEah baby! That was a blast to see! I am really glad that she was so good to you:)

I won't say you wore her out, but I will say you broke her in nicely:cool:

Enjoy her my friend:thumbup:

Not sure... haven't had the chance to us my BWM LE yet. Still debating if I should or need to... time will tell. :D

The SHBM / CF BWM comparo will have to wait for about a week... my work schedule went into hyperdrive yesterday, and no signs of letting up until Thursday of next week.

I'll definitely do an SHBM w/ a normal grind, but it's much thicker at +/- .280" thick. The ASM is .250" thick and would be a better comparo, but I have to break in an unused SHBM to do so. But... I might as well get some use out of her right? :p

I do plan on putting them thru a battery of tests including fuzz sticks.

Edge held up great! Couldn't even tell I used her in that respect.

Can't say for sure... I'm temporarily using a 10" nylon sheath similar to what you can get at the yard. My guess is that these are slightly thinner than the CGs considering there's no coating and been ground down a bit to get the Comp Finish.

Now that I know she's a keeper... I'll be getting both a leather and kydex setup for her.
