I've been humming along, within some limits, on my bottom end HF drill press for 3 years. Well, otday I gave it to my son (who has to be supervised, he's 6. His 12 volt cordless is one thing, but even a 5 inch HF press need a bit of adult watching.)

Because-

Today I spent $80......

I call it a score.

Nice score.

Am I the only one that will notice your wife cutting the cheese on camera too?

Nice score, did you pick it up at a pawn store.
Thats a great price if you picked it up new.
Wife cutting the cheese, Funny.

craigslist, actually had been up for a few days. It's hardly used, no caked on gunk anywhere on the drill press, everythign shiny except a little surface browning from storage. smooth running and no wobble at all. Wait til I have it mounted for a year, hahaha

Those are goldfish. or were, 3 years ago when they were only a half inch long. Now they are monster koi from hell. But they do eat skeeters.

That's my kitchen, I decided to make my wife oh so happy by leaving the drill press there while I make a space for it in the shop. Which apparently requires me building a new table.... in the morning.....

You messed up then. Should've stuffed a mixer blade into it and told her you bought her an upgraded one. Then you could take advantage of working indoors.

Great. It is always nice to see what stuff you guys (the pros I mean) use. I guess that for drilling pin holes for knifes and the like it is stout enough. I use one pretty much like that but instead of using it on a bench, it sits on an L shaped support I made (fixed to a garaje column) so it doesn't take any room on my already small work bench.

Anyway, I have been making three grinders lately and the damn thing wasn't stout enough. It flexed when drilling big holes and didn't have enough power. I ended up going to a shop to have some critical holes (the ones that will be tapped for the wheel axels on the 15mm plate that makes the flat grinding attachment). Anything drilled on my small drill ends up crocked.

Do you guys use for the hardcore stuff?

Mikel

well, now i've got it mounted..... so it's going to cost more :D

Yall can also see I set my son up with the HF baby drill press, which has done hundreds of tangs and scales for 3 years. He's crazy about drilling, I lost a few hours of work time today helping him make a block for his drill bits and a smiley face in dot art....
