Hi Guys:
I'm looking for a very specific tool. It's an engineer's and machinist's tool that I've seen on knife making videos but don't know what it's called. I'll try my best to describe it.
It's a tool for scribing. It's like an engineer's scriber, except it's not shaped like a pencil. Rather, the scriber itself sticks out at a 90 degree angle from a small cylindrical part.
Basically, what this tool allows you to do is hold the small cylindrical part up against your blade, run it down the length of the blade, and the scriber sticking out from the cylinder scribes a line right down the center of the edge. I have a piece of steel that's ready to grind but the "drill bit" method for scribing the center line will not work.
Does this make sense? Please let me know if you know what I'm talking about (because I sure don't!)
Thanks!
