Tool steel, O1, D2 etc question

How do you get your tool steel to not rust, what do you put on your knives? Ive started to make stainless steel with cpm154, but have some knives that are toolsteel and they rust if i leave them outdoors or in garage!! help !!!

I use Breakfree CLP on all my knives and I've never had one rust yet with it and i live on the coast of Oregon with salty air. I also don't ever leave my knives outside in the garage either though so not sure how much my opinion matters. There have been lots of testing done by fellow members though and Breakfree CLP always comes out in the top 3 for rust prevention plus it's usually the easiest one to find. I buy it at Walmart.

Also, make sure that you wipe your knives down very well so that there are no finger prints on them when you put them away. I put a coat of mineral oil on my blades if I won't be finishing them for a while and use Renaissance Wax when they go into long term storage or are shipped to a customer.
