I have two small pieces of tool steel that I cannot use. One has the name V R WESSON, TANTUNG "G" on it and is 1" X 6" X 1/8". The other has the name portion ground off but I'm pretty sure its the same, it is 3/4" X 5-1/2" X 5/32" with a bevel on one end and edge.. I don't know if it could be laminated as a cutting edge or not as I don't have the equipment for that anyway. According to a book I have the content is as follows, Cobalt chromium alloy; C 2-4; Co 42-47; Cr 27-32; Fe 1 max; Mn 1-3; Nb 2-7; Ni 7 max; W 14-19.
If someone can use them I would like to possibly swap for something I can use (a small piece of D2 or 1095 maybe). If nothing else will "donate" them to someone who will put them to good use.
I apologize if I have this in the wrong forum. Please move it if it is..

Tantung "G" isn't a tool steel. It is a cast cobalt alloy, not a steel. Stellite is a similar product.

Ok I stand corrected. Offer still good though if anyone can use them for something. Thanks for the info.

Neat, I would certainly trade a few pounds of D2 but the shipping is going to be annoying (I'm in Canada)! You wouldn't happen to be coming to Blade, would you?

Weeelllll, no one else seems interested so if you'll email me your mailing address I will send these to you. Sorry but I'm unable to come to blade as my travel funds are kinda restricted this year but there is no need to send the D2 if you don't want to. Like I said these are small pieces. Just glad someone can get some use from them.
