I'm not planning on taking up making knives on any serious level, been there and I'm just not good enough to make myself happy. I'm not planning on forging ever again; I still haven't put a handle on the last blade a friend and I forged up more than a decade ago. All I want to do is have tooling to to do some maintainance and restoration on slipjoints and the occasional fixed blade. OK, maybe build a slipjoint once in a while. Or two. But I'm not going to get serious about it.
In the home shop I've got a small drill press, belt grinder, etc; I've got a metal lathe I'm still figuring out at the "work" shop.
But right now I've got the chance to pick through a bunch of surplus tooling at a decent price. What sizes of reamers and drill bits should I be watching for? Anything else I should keep my eyes open for?
Thanks!
