Tools hard too open

I have a Schrade locking pliers multitool that I use when fishing. The tools are getting hard too open. Should I just lubricate them?

Clean with hot soapy water , followed by boiling water to drive off moisture , then oil .

My wife has a pair of small hand held pruners and the lock siezed up so she couldn't keep them closed. She was ready to throw them out - but I gave the locking mechanism and pivot a solid blast of WD-40 and let them soak overnight.

The next morning the lock worked like butter.
