I have always wanted to make a bow...arrow...and broadhead and hunt with it. Now that I am a knife guru I want to make my own knife. I want to keep it "low budget" as possible, but also kind of on the simple side.

Would it be better to purchase a few different files and maybe a belt sander? A bench grinder? What does a guy need to DIY? I have been reading some DIY-1st knife- type threads and want to give it a try!!

Sorry if it has been discussed 10000 times. And yes, I have been reading a lot in the knife maker's forum.

one large bastard file, one fine single cut file (I like my small triangular one to draw file) and a chain saw file if you like round plungelines
Then sandpaper and a solid clamp or vice.
That is what you need. Everything else is extra.
A drill press is nice to have.

And read up on the stickies, loads of info there.
Enjoy
