Just curious to know anyone else's thoughts or experience with Toor knives? I'm on this mission to buy only USA made knives and I thought I would give these guys a shot and I'm not impressed so far. Ordered a Chasm folder two weeks ago under the impression they where in-stock but taking 10-15 days to process orders because of Covid-19...get a notification Monday that this has changed to 20-25 days. That seems a little excessive and suspect. Tried emailing sales dept and No response. I started searching info on line about Toors and there seems to be more Bad than good...any thoughts or info would be appreciated..🇺🇸
Toors message:
** Due to the unprecedented number of email notification signups we have received so far on the Folding Series, we are expecting a level of orders that we've never seen before. Therefore, please expect 20-25 business days for shipping on the new folding knives. For this same reason, pickup in the showroom will not be an option on the folders, at this time.**

I don't know who they are, and leaving my thoughts on companies who are still using the COVID pandemic as an excuse aside...ahem, I'll just say that maybe they're a very small operation, and they've been flooded with orders and are having to scramble to work through the backlog?

A few online retailers appear to carry significant number of toor knives, so I don't think they are that small. However, like you, I have never really heard of them (until recently, that is).

In my experience, I prefer to sit on the sidelines for awhile with makers/manufacturers seemingly new to the game or that I have never heard of before. I like to see if drama develops and if their product is decent quality.

I'm a very reasonable and easy going person. If they had told me how Backlogged they where, I would of shopped with one of their dealers and purchased from them. I actually have two more Toor knives sitting in my cart on one of their dealer sites. I'm waiting to see how long it takes them to respond to this problem before going forward. If their customer service is bad going out the gate..it's not going to get any better when there is a warranty issue..😒

I have bought a couple of their fixed blades with no issues even when they were hyped up and sold out quick. I saw they were coming out with one of their first folders and decided to wait on the sidelines to see how they did going into that space.

Fyi..Update: Within an hour of getting Paypal involved and posting on this forum. I got a message from Toors knives stating my order has been fulfilled and shipping out USPS Priority today...I will keep the updates coming until it arrives. Hopefully this all ends well because I really want to see American Knife makers succeed...👍🇺🇸

That's unfortunate. I too want to see American knife makers succeed; good ones that is, not folks who ignore you until a Paypal case opened against them spurs them to respond.

I saw that if you order from them but cancel before it ships they will still dock you 15%. That seemed super lame especially since their items are so desired (as stated on their). Also, they require you to pay for S&H and insist you pay them an additional 5 bucks as “insurance“ in the event you don’t get your knife. I dunno, i Like the look of the chasm and being USA-made, but after all I read on their website I was turned off.

Right..?? I thought that a strange policy as well. That sort of action is usually reserved for manufacturers who have an issue selling their products. Not one with a 25 +day Backlog..!! If processing & shipping orders is your issue just sell through your dealers? 🤔

you can tell they want our money and definitely dont want to give it back. And with this story that they suddenly ship once they’ve been hounded a bit.. makes it an easy pass.

Wow if that is the case, seems a bit lame to me. I had not heard a lot about them, checked their site - some interesting items but I would be hesitant based on this post.

I can't speak to your experience directly with them, but the quality on the knives we received have been very good.

That's what I am hoping and this is just a one off situation. I like their designs and in fact ordered a second knife ( Merchant Folder) from one of the dealers who had them in-stock. Like I stated in my first post..I would of been fine buying from one of the dealers if that fact had been communicated to me...When I bought the Chasm folder I as told they where in-stock , nothing about a 20-25 day order processing. If your a dealer for Toors I may just start buying from you..I have 5-6 more I wish to purchase..??

Resurrecting an older thread, as I haven't found much information about Toor on this site. In an impulsive moment, I recently decided to purchase a Toor Chasm to check them out. Made in America, great materials, reasonable price, what's not to like?

When I got it, it kind of reminded me of a small CR Sebenza. While the knife looked great, it had quite a bit of lock stick. Additionally, it took more force than one thumb could provide to open it (I was not grasping the lockbar either). I loosened the pivot a little to adjust it so that it was easier to open. To adjust it in such a way that it was merely very tight, the blade wiggled a bit. At this point my options were to a) disassemble it and try to troubleshoot it, b) send it back to Toor to see if they could fix it, or c) return it to the vendor for a refund. If I took it apart I could no longer return it, and didn't want to be bothered sending it back to Toor so I returned it to the vendor unmolested.

In my mind, a $200 knife shouldn't make it out the manufacturers door in this mechanical shape. In reviewing some online reviews, it appears that I'm not the only one experiencing quality issues from Toor. it's possible Toor is new to the folding knife game and hasn't quite figured it out yet.

YMMV. I hope they get a hold of the QC issues in the future.

They have done fixed blades for a while but this year was their first release of folders.
