Toor Knives

If you like it, you like it. That's all that really matters.

I don't want to jump on Toor. I like them, they have cool factor, and we all want more American knife companies to exist. I do know that one thing that happened is they grew very quickly. When they scaled up and rolled out their folding knives they had some parts made in China by We Knives (everything is USA made now). I suspect growing pains and logistical chaos had a lot to do with the reputation that has dogged them since. Their prices have not helped, either, really.

The Admiral is thinner than the Carothers kephart and cpm154 is softer than D3V. It’s going to take a fine, polished edge more easily and is going to cut cardboard better initially after stropping. But the folder is going to lose its edge much faster than the kephart.

I have a fixed Anaconda and well, there is nothing wrong at all with that knife, except that you have to add your own clip to the sheath.

I received my Toor/Haley Darter today. I think it warrants a full review, which I will do. Some quick hits: 1) there is an area where the scales very noticably don’t sit flush with the knife, 2) the bevel grinds of the swedge very slightly do not line up and neither does the tip grind (the tip grind is barely noticeable—it doesn’t bother me), 3) the design is really amazing—it handles like a martial arts knife. Like, I’m actually really impressed.

Is it $400 of knife? For me, no. But I would probably buy one anyway because I’ve never held a knife that so clearly expresses character in how it handles. It actually feels like a martial arts tool, and that’s pretty wild because every other “fighting” knife I’ve held all felt more or less like any other knife of their approximate size.

They got some heat from using same "Design influence" and other...things...from Half Face Blades. I have a folder from them, and it's pretty basic.

I have two Toor folders that I really like. The SMKW exclusive Chasm Widow and an Ebony Suitor.
I’ve been carrying the Chasm for weeks and after some break in time the action is great, it’s one of my favorite carries.
Disappears in the pocket, def a basketball shorts carry, the textured G-10 handle is grippy, it’s very light for 3.25 of blade.
Frame lock and zero problems with lock stick. CPM-154 steel, my first go with this particular steel, so far I’ve touched up the edge with a strop once and it’s back to how I got it sharp. Overall very happy with this purchase.

The Suitor is new and I haven’t had much carry time with it yet.
It needs some break in time on the action and unfortunately has a bit of lock stick.
CPM-154 steel as well and has a flat grind. It’s definitely a slicer, super sharp.
I like the feel and look of the ebony handles.
I need more time with it of course and hopefully with more use the action gets better and I hope the lock stick eases up.

I would like to get the DLT exclusive Merchant.. if only it wasn’t tanto. I’d much rather get the standard blade shape.

Their customer service is awesome.

Glad you had a good experience - the woman I dealt with was nice enough but they gave me the run around for about a month only to get a replacement blade that was worse than the one I sent in for warranty issues.

Dang. That sucks. I’m sorry to hear that.
I didn’t have any blade issues but they sent me the wrong model, I made a comment on an IG post and they sent me the color scales I had wanted.
Another time I lost my iwb carry attachment for sheath because screws backed out and they sent me everything no questions asked.

I’ve been EDCing the Darter since I picked it up. I have come to love it. I changed the grind to 18 degrees per side to make it a better slicer and it seems to stay sharp a long while despite that. I definitely dull the edge along the tip first but it strops up easily. It’s a long knife but it’s not too long—it fits completely into my pocket. I like the handle-heavy weight and the shape. The blade isn’t annoyingly thick, either. I love the hook at the butt of the handle, too. Anyway, I picked up another one from ebay so I could have a backup. I still don’t think it’s a $400 knife but it’s one of my favorites all the same.

Anyone find the handles to be a bit too blocky and sharp for long use. I have the kryptilian and the tomahawk and they both cut into my hand waaaaaay to much for a 350 and 480
