The top 3 Fiddlebacks that you would buy in under 30 seconds. I could add plenty more but this is a start. I tried to stay away of woods that have a lot of variance.

As of or revised on - 9/16/18

1. Bush Hermit Jr. - Black micarta bolster thick liner and Snake Wood 1/8" TT A2
2. Arete - Exotic wood, black or natural liner white pinstripe, high grind 1/8" TT A2
3. Bushcraft Jr. - Tuxedo or OG or Brown micarta 1/8" TT or 3/32" A2

Last edited:
1. Buckeye burl Bushboot 3/32" A2 swedge natural w/blue or white
2. Bog Oak Hiking Buddy 3/32" A2 black w/white
3. Bog Oak OS Karda 3/32" A2 black w/white

I had my buying spree already this year.

But the three that have me thinking are;
#1. Bushcraft Senior, because I love my Bushcraft.

#2. Toboggan, because I always wanted and Uprated Grohmann

#3. Rebel, because I just find the shape and size of the Rebel very compelling.

Competition Cutter
Bowlegged Chopper
Sneaky Pete

Not in any particular order... and I'm not sure how Camp Knife didn't make the list, but a fuller grind 5/16" Camp Knife is a bad mutha'!

If I could afford to play, my Top 3 would all be wood handled and either in 3/32" TT or that sick 0.04" AEB-L.
OS Karda
Monarch
Bushcraft Hatchet

To throw in a little lagniappe, I want one of those @kmellino Lunch Box Chef Knives in 0.04" AEB-L with Bloodwood handles over copper liners with copper pins. Maybe one day, I'll be able to buy one.

Recently I haven't had the overwhelming desire to buy more knives, I think because it's almost hunting season and my focus has switched to that. Hunting gear, getting the bow set up, getting new gadgets to use on my hunts this year, etc.

That said, I'm getting married next June and I'd love to have a stunning Fiddleback in my pocket for the occasion.

Let's see... I'll shoot for the moon. These will be my top 3 "Wedding Fiddlebacks". :D

1) Esquire, 3/32 stainless, OD bolstered ironwood

or maybe...

2) OS Karda, 3/32, tumble finished, commando black micarta scales or thin "tuxedo scales".

or how about...

3) Either of the above models, 3/32, bog oak over white and black.

--Guardless EDC2 with synthetic scales--Nevermind, just purchased and should have in a few days.
--Bow Legged belt knife with canvas
--And while technically not a Fiddleback-a WA Surls Bush Adder in just about anything

Today my top 3 would be.
1. Hiking Buddy 3/32 A2 OD micarta
2. OS Karda 3/32 AEB-L OD micarta
3. Toboggan 3/32 AEB-L OD micarta

Wishing for my top 3 has longer odds than finding Sasquatch in the back forty........

......the Fiddleback crew must be allergic to OD Green Micarta;):D

Thanks for this the idea and posting this thread David L David L

I'm going to first stray from the question to give @VANCE a list of my "Hell yeah, I'd buy that if it came up" and then I'll answer it more directly. :D
I feel like I've gotten really spoiled/picky given all of the Fiddlebacks that I've bought, sold and what has come to be my current collection. Whatever the total number is that has gone through my hands, its a crazy number. If I were looking to complete or compliment some of the sets that I have going on, it would result in more duplicate models I already have but they'd still be nice to have. Keeping in mind that I prefer high grinds, those would be:
  • Bog Oak over Black/White w/ 3/32": OS Karda, Esquire, Lonestar, Handyman
  • Black Bolstered Ruby 3/32": OS Karda, Esquire, Handyman
  • Blue Dyed Curly Maple over Black/White 3/32": Handyman, Bushnub, Asp
NOTE: This flavor of blue dyed curly maple

If I were looking my ideal favorite to carry and use the hell out of, it would be a double black canvas commando Handyman with some .118 CPM154 surface ground down to a true 3/32" (.09). And the handle would be sandblasted to give it that extra grip.

So here's what was the fun part of this post for me & was a nostalgic revisit to a really cool time period of Fiddleback Fridays on BladeForums. I must say that it is something that I really miss when it comes to Fiddleback Fridays. I'm sorry for the dash of negativity and total sidebar here but I'm only bringing this up because having referred to Fotki for memories, it was a sore reminder that we no longer have that option after the transition occurred:
It sucks that the opinion was that it would be too much work to upload to Fotki or somewhere to have a nice historical archive of every Fiddleback Friday knife for Customers to browse through in one place. I still don't see where it would be too much work to just post a left and a right side of each knife. Phillip, I appreciate all the history you have created in the old Fiddleback Friday sale threads, on Fotki and I appreciate whoever posts the current Friday threads (at least those can be searched from BF and you can browse within each thread). Thanks
Also, I really miss the absolute FUN of seeing who tried for what knife and the ability to try to track something down at a later date.

Again, sorry for that digression but lets get back to the fun part. Given my examples, the want for that archive might make more sense but here are the 3 knives "that got away" and I'd love to get another opportunity at them some day:

Fiddleback Friday April 15, 2016
2016 0415 09 KE Bushie w/ desert ironwood over black liners & lime pinstripes, SFT Convex on spalted 3/32" A2
I scored this and the handle is/was just amazing and in a moment of "I'm not going to collect DIW" I stupidly put it up for sale. Peter's Wife loves it so he's not allowed to sell it back to me ;)

Fiddleback Friday July 1, 2016
2016 0701 05 Hiking Buddy w/ dyed giraffe bone over black liners & white pinstripes, SFT Convex on spalted 3/32" A2
Never saw another like this and its just been a regret that stuck with me over time. I actually just IM'd the person and we'll see how that pans out.

Fiddleback Friday August 19, 2016
2016 0819 15 KE Bushie w/ starry night burlap over natural liners & white pinstripes, SFT Convex on spalted 1/8" A2
This was just a cool friggen knife. It is 1/8" SFT and I'd prefer 3/32" or 1/8" TT so I'm not sure it would hit the mark entirely. But its a cool friggen looking knife, which I might have mentioned.

^Nice post Warrior108 Warrior108 !

There have been many wish list posts like this one over the years. I am curious to hear if anyone had success seeing the exact knife requested get made AND you scored it through the normal Fiddleback Friday process. It would be cool to hear a success story to show that wish list threads like this are not a complete exercise in futility since Fiddleback doesn’t take specific custom orders.

Let’s see it if you got it!

Thanks everyone for sharing some of your wishlist knives! I started this thread because I realized that something is changing with how I am deciding to purchase new Fiddlebacks. The eye opener for me was the Handyman GB that I passed on. What is going on there? I realized I have a user Handyman I really like and for the small collection I am working on the GB choices did not fit for me this time. Wait, what did I just say... collection I am working on?!?!? I don't really know how it happened because I thought I was here just to get a few nice EDC knives and now I am building a collection. It turns out that I am doing both and having fun using some of the knives and only wiping down others.

So why this thread? Lots of thoughts started rolling around after asking myself "what am I waiting for"? The answer is I am building a small collection with 10~15 medium sized blade knives that have 3"-4" blades that feel good in my hand with some that I enjoy using. In poker terms I am working on a straight, different models with different colors and textures. Not fully in succession because some models just don't call to me. With 10~15 knives it clearly seems intentional and looking at them together takes on a whole new feeling. Because of this plan I am really open to way more options than I listed in my top 3 because it is easier to do than other poker hands. One day I will figure out an interesting way to display them but at this time it is looking like a custom job.
I also wondered what are you waiting for? What are you working on getting for use or collecting? When we know what someone else is working on we might even be able to help. Even though the Fiddleback team has a process for seemingly randomly releasing knives it might be of some use to know what would make us jump out of our chair hoping to be the fastest shark.
