My top 3 users are all in that category:

BK2 purchased off of Amazon at about $50 when I got it.
Mora Bushcraft Black purchased off of Amazon $30 when I got it.
Tops Ferret off of Amazon $47 when I got it.

Depends on what you want. Something close to 50USD, or well under? Something modern or traditional? Fixed or folding knife?

Fixed:

For thirty five dollars at the most get a kershaw cryo. I have had one almost since they where released and it's amazing.
 
Kershaw Skyline, Spyderco Delica 4, and for the last I am going to cheat a little bit, but if you watch the threads you can get a used Benchmade Mini-Grip for a little more money ($60+)
 
Has anyone bothered to ask what type of use this knife is for? Business man? Swamp logger? College kid playing music on the weekend?

IMO these plus the Rat I and II are the best folders out there for the money (cant speak for the Ontario Utilitac... I don't own one yet). as for fixed blades, id have to say the Mora, Condor, ESEE and BKT offerings in this price range are hard to beat.
