Top 3 Most Collectible Busse Knives...

I would have to agree with you. To my surprise there is a very fine SH-E that has been sitting in the exchange forum for weeks, and with a price that is only $100 above factory pricing!

If I had the extra dough it would be mine.

I see two SH-E's over there and neither one is $100 over factory pricing? unless your factory pricing was different than mine :D

My mistake. I was taking into account a factory satin finish from the old days as well.

Still though, it's only $168 over factory pricing assuming that the original buyer did not pay extra for the "new" desert finish.

SH-E....$297
Penetrator tip....$25
Snakeskin micarta....$35

=$357

If knife in question had a factory satin finish from that time period add $65

total=$422 ....$103 more than factory pricing.

As is it is only $168 more than factory pricing.

Still a good deal on a classic.

I think that the premier collector Busse that is not totally out of the reach of the average collector, but is not an easy goal either, is an original Steel Heart in A2. No comprehensive Busse collection is complete without one, and it is what really started it all.

EU-17 handles because they feel so good.

AK-47's because you can't get more Infi for the money.

Meaner Streets because they are cool and EDC sized.

Honorable mention to Terror Monkey's, Zero Tollerance, Mojo's, Mofo's and Hell Razors.

I will certainly 'second' this point: "...it is not an easy goal...". :D

Shhhhhhh !!!!

What was I thinking? The original Steel Heart was ATS 34, not A2!

Senility is hell, I tell ya'! But you do get to meet a lot of new people.

I'd KILL for one of those :D EITHER blade material. A piece of Busse history....that also needs to be used :D.

Not to discount some of the one-offs that would be choice like the Chukchete, etc. That's less like buying a collectible Revolutionary War musket and more akin to buying the Declaration of Independence.

Besides, Chuck will keep that 'til he dies and, hopefully, I'm on the short list for his will. ;)

Do I own one of your "etc"?
Coming to the show this weekend?

The one that'll be holy grail-ish in years to come will be the satin/green linen GW's. VERY few made. At some point, people will go, "Hey - I never got enough game wardens" or "Hey, I came into this Busse thing in late 07 - where are the Game Wardens?" And that combo will be holy grailish. Perhaps followed by the fat blue/black.

Those are specific knives vs. a "line" that is collectible, but I suspect they will double in price in the next 12-18 months. At least those two.

Penetrator tip was an "option"?

Yep, used to add $25 to the cost of a knife.

But back then you could also add a satin finish to any current offering for $65, and they would have 4-6 blades available for ordering at any given time.

for me
Aragon Assault
Dragon's Fang (although might not really be collectable except for one lucky schmo.....I don't know it that one was a one off)
Fat Fusion BM le

Large BARF gets honorable mention

(of course as a wannabe busse owner, no stock can be put in what I say, only going on what I would want as my first three if could have any.........if laying out my own cash, fat fusion BM le goes to the top of the list)
