Just killing a relaxing Sunday morning / afternoon sitting around the house...:D

So...

What are your five favorite knife companies? Right now, mine would have to be the following companies in no particular order.

1. Spyderco
2. Al Mar
3. Chris Reeve
4. Busse
5. AG Russell

Honorable mention goes to:
Mcusta
Seki Cut
Moki
Fallkniven

You see how well I staid within the "5 companies" guideline. There's just so many quality knives on the market now a days. It's hard to narrow them down but these companies are the ones that I mainly find myself going back to when buying another blade.

Kershaw must surely be a usual suspect as well as the likes of Spyderco and CRK... at least my dealings with their service as well as their products have been very pleasurable.
R.I.P. the time we waste an all these lists... :-)

Wouldn't mind hearing more about the criteria for the list. It's inferred that product quality is a key criteria. Other possible criteria when choosing a company might be product innovation, customer service, breadth of product lineup, reputation/image, tradition, staying power in the market, etc.

My selections, each for probably different reasons, would be:

Chris Reeve Knives
Kershaw
Victorinox
William Henry
Leatherman

1: Busse Combat
2: Swamprat
3: Scrapyard
4: Hill Knives
5: Fallkniven

In no particular order:

Benchmade
Spyderco
Kershaw
Blade-Tech
Al Mar

1.Chris Reeve
2.Busse "Dogs,Hogs,and Rats"
3.Benchmade
4.Victorinox
5.Case

I like a lot of companies but those I have bought the most products from consistantly over the years are

1)Spyderco
2)Buck
3)Kershaw
4)Case
5)Cold Steel

and not necessarily in that order although Spyderco, Buck and Cold Steel at one time were often competing for the number 1 spot. Cold Steel has kind of fizzled out in the last year and Kabar has moved up into the rankings but otherwise those companies see the lions share of my money usually.

In the next few years I intend to make a concerted effort to spend more with Ernie Emerson and Kabar and also try to buy more knives by Canal Street Cutlery which I find to be a very appealing company in the traditional line of folders.

BenchMade has never really seen a lot of my money. I do have a few knives by them but nothing they ever offered really moved me to where I'd keep it long. Most come and go in my collection. I believe the HK29 will be one I'll hang on to and perhaps the old Lightweight FRN folder from the early 90s but otherwise I doubt I'll be throwing much their way unless they change some things in their line up and the way they do business.

Busse
Cold Steel (yeah yeah I know)
Kabar
Benchmade

I only have 4 and in no particular order because I like them all for different reasons.

Leatherman
Spyderco
Victorinox
Queen Cutlery
Buck

Strider would have made the cut, and as much as I love my SNG and PT, their fan base on 'other forums' makes me want to jump out of the window.

The usual suspects in alphabetical order (I don't do random)

Benchmade
Buck
Leatherman
Spyderco
Victorinox

My parameters:
Sources of user knives that I can afford; and have used and have been happy with. I'm know there are other companies that make wonderful knives, even ones that fit my budget. These are the ones with whom I have personal experience.
