What were your top producers this past year for the game fish that you target ?

My number 1 lure was the old standby Buzzbait.A small black Booyah was the most successful . Ive been throwing buzzbaits for over three decades and they really came through this year. Spring, summer, fall , day and night it was my top Bass lure.

A close second was the 3" Mister Twister Sassy Shad in shad pattern. Another lure that I first used many years ago, it fell out of favor as a bass lure because of the number of lost fish. For the last couple of years Ive been using better jigheads , made specifically for bass and the Sassy shad has risen to one of of my most dependable bass lures. Largemouth, smallmouths, crappie , channel cats and drum fell victim to this classic.

edited: I should add the Matzuo jig heads which have made the sassy Shad so effective.

I always has success with spinners and spinnerbaits.

Spinnerbaits for bass and pikes, spinners for steelheads.

pop-rs have always been good for me in more open water. in the weeds & pads nothing has outproduced the plastic frog by stanley.

I love the pop r too. I still use my signature series one from when I was maybe 14 with those twisted Excalibur hooks.

IDK if it was the top producer... but I had the most fun with and caught my personal best with...
Kermit!
AKA the white scumfrog.

Just love froggin' :)

i'm primarily a trout guy...i'm with skinny joe; i'm a bigtime mepps user...and i like my thomas buoyant spoons too...year in year out, there is always some version of a mepps lure that will hit'em hard...last year it was the comet mino; they really chased that one...

i picked up a couple of those joes flies; haven't used them enough yet to make an opinion...but i will; they look pretty effect...

Best ones for me were the original Worden's Rooster Tail and various soft plastics. I don't fish lures very much, but the Rooster Tail always produces for me. Largemouth, smallmouth, stripers, wipers, hybrids, panfish. It slays on all of them.

My kids bought me a couple of containers of Berkley Alive baits and they worked great. Sometimes I'd just fish them like cut bait and I'd catch fish on them. I also put them on under bobbers for smaller kids and they worked great there too. They last longer than nightcrawlers or redworms.

One thing I do want to use more next summer are soft swim baits and big, 4-5" shads on jig heads.
I had some success with them and was surprised that a 12" LMB would hit a 5" sassy shad.

Used alot of Joe's flies with sucess on Bass, Trout and panfish. Small Mepps spinners worked great also. I had a hard time getting farm raised stocked trout to bite, but finally caught a ton of them using various dry flies behind a float cast on a ultra light spinning set up.

how did you fish that Crappie Magnet? With a float or juts casting? Jigging doesn't work for me as I don't have a boat....

When you buy pay close attention to the blade size because it does make a difference. I normally add a size B or BB split shot 12 - 16" ahead of one. The most effective method for me is to cast it across stream and work it slow as it washes downstream.

I fish for bass mostly and have had great success with the following Rapala lures :

1. X-rap color rusty crawdad (My goto lure)
2. Jointed Shad Rap color shad ( love the action)
3. Clackin’ Rap color firetiger (Caught a bass on my third cast) :D

I have many other lures, but these three never let me down!!!!!

there is a new hard bait walking frog, have not got it yet $60.00
Im a dog walking freak, Baits are like knifes, always the best one
right around the corner

yea; i inherited a bunch of these ...i DO NOT know how to use those...

I fish them in streams using a steady retrieve adding movement by twitching the rod. I like the fact that I can fish them at different depths and speeds. The color seems to be the biggest factor. Here's a nice Brookie I caught last spring out of a heavily fished stream using a crappie magnet. I watched two guys fishing the same hole using spinners and live bait catch nothing. I hooked this guy on my second cast.
