Fellow knife-nerds Blade Enthusiasts,

A little background: I've had a bit of a mental shift lately regarding my "collection" and have decided to "use it or lose it"... for the most part, lol. Crazy, I know.๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธWith that being said, as I've dug through the various piles, tubes, and boxes in an attempt to "thin the herd" (easier said than done), I've reeaalllyyy had to put some thought into. Interestingly, there have been a handful of knives that have kept me circling back... and, they're NOT the ones I thought they'd be! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

So, let's assume (because.. Pfft!.. it'll never happen ๐Ÿ˜‚), that you were limited to ONLY FIVE (5) (or maybe 7, lol) traditionals to USE for the rest of your days. Which ones would they do be?? ๐Ÿค”

Rules are simple:
Must be a traditional
No brand restrictions
Only FIVE!!! (Ok.. seven MAX!) ๐Ÿคฃ

I really hope this catches on! I think it would be very cool to see everyone's "couldn't live without 'em" pile.

I'll get us started.

Not the fanciest, but these five (5) might just do it:

Actually, let's make it seven (7) ๐Ÿ˜‚:

Easy

GEC 06 Pemberton and 09 Esquire, Schatt & Morgan senator (Office Knife) a Boker Half Congress, a John Primble pen knife and an A. Wright Lambsfoot

That's six; the hardest part was deciding between my Chestnut Brown 09 Esquire or the Rust Red one. Brown won out as it was a gift.

๐Ÿ˜ Fantastic choices!!! I like a nice half-congress myself! Sheesh... that Office Knife is๐Ÿ‘Œ and you can't go wrong with a sturdy lamb!! I may need to review my selections again... ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ˜‚

First off, I have to say this is completely academic, as I have way too many nice knives and if I did this selection tomorrow there might be at least 3 or 4 different ones chosen.
But at the least here are 7 that I would hate to be without.

All fine choices, sir! ๐Ÿ‘We're beginning to see some lamb and stockman consistency!! Coincidence?? ;)

The first four were easy. They won't change. Probably :)
GEC 29, Case 18pu, Vic Pioneer and Vic Cadet
keepr1.JPG

Then it got messy. These six are all viable for the coveted number 5 slot
The Spring Street 86, Case copperhead 2 blade and 1 blade, Buck 301 and 303, and the Bunny Knife.
keepr2.JPG

If I have to choose I guess the Buck 303 in slot #5 and the 86 and Bunny in slots #6 and 7.

As I was typing I realized I left out my Albers eeksmaller.jpg
And there isn't a lambfoot in there...

Screw the rules! Down with the man! Viva la Revoluciรณn!
I'm keeping more! More I say! Mine! All mine! Muhahahahahahaha!

Oops, did I say that out loud? ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธI left out my SAK. Son of a... Pfft!

I feel your pain! ๐Ÿคฃ There was a Copperhead just outside the picture frame on my last photo.

Chris,

I want to suggest that your proposed procedure disrespects the Diversity of our collections, violates Equity among those who have different sized collections, and prohibits our efforts to Include more knives in our holdings.

Specifically regarding Equity: someone with 5 knives is allowed to designate ALL of them (100%) as keepers, while someone with 1000 knives is allowed to designate ONLY 5 of them (1/2 of 1%) as keepers???

Seems unAmerican!
(But if you insist on your original procedure, I'll try to comply to whatever degree I can.)

GT,

I didn't think about that, and I agree with you in full. Thank you, sir, for bringing that to my attention! ๐Ÿค

Give me a bit to re-word the thread title, description, and/or rules to ensure everyone is able to participate! Good call. ๐Ÿ‘

In the mean time, feel free to post your five favorite Canoes! ;)

I KNEW I should have used some emojis in my post!
I was mostly just yanking your chain, Chris (although the challenge you issued IS probably tougher for those with many knives than for those with few)! ๐Ÿ˜ฒ ;)
Sorry about not making my intentions clear.

Well stated Gary, I concur and will try to comply. However, I have spent the last couple of hours thinking about how I could mostly, kinda comply and still get a few more of my knives in the thread. I have knives that I use most of the time, knives that I bought to use but have decided not to and then to ones that I have bought just for their great looks.

So in keeping with the OP's goals of the thread here are my choices...

I thought of the 110 and 112, but I have versions of those that have pocket clips, so aren't traditional, so I figured they didn't count and I could keep those too ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Yep, my other two(to make seven) would have been my 110 Slim Pro and 898 auto.

๐Ÿ˜ Great knives, my friend!!! I think I now understand 5K Qs 5K Qs (my buddy, GT)'s point. Perhaps, I should remove "no safe queens" from the original post?? Does that open the door for everyone??? I mean this sincerely as I think it would be very cool to see everyone's "TOP FIVE"!!! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Didn't intend to a send a "text message" out of context!๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ

That might change my selection as I kept mine limited to users. Safe queens is a whole other ball of wax

After re-reading your reply, I finally get it. ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ ๐Ÿ˜‚ Rather challenging, isn't it? ๐Ÿคฃ

You, sir, are limited to seven (7) MAX (safe-queens, chestnuts AND Canoes included ๐Ÿซฃ)!!!

What shall they be, sir?! ๐Ÿ˜

Okay. If I don't think about it for too long, I can limit myself to five.
The first two should come as no surprise:
Buck 112 custom:

And the Alox Pioneer
Image 1.jpg
Followed by the Case/Bose Cattle Knife
Image 2.jpg
Next up would have to be the #35 Churchill
Image 3.jpg
Then the #66 Stockman
