What's on yours? What's the #1 all-time TOP item on your list right now? What would, in your mind, help you acheive what you want out of your knifemaking career/hobby? As knifemakers, there is ALWAYS something you need or want. It is a funny fact of life for us that whever we need usually holds priority over what we want, right? Here is mine:

Wellsaw 613

Poll: What is number one on YOUR list? :D

A right shoulder and arm that could do something more than turn a page or write for more than a few minutes.

caffiene.... drinking some now.... then back to the shop, after that would be a milling machine..... maybe I'll build one

More of these little sweat-shop bastids. They come in handy!!! :D

Seriously? I have a short list, and none of them really take lead...

A digitally controlled furnace (Paragon or Evenheat) to go next to my salt-bath

An air or power hammer

A Rockwell tester (save me trips to the "local" machine shop)

Some sort of system that cleans my shop automatically. I'm a neat-freak, and keeping the shop clean is a beayotch. And it looks dirty compared to yours!

I second Ed, only it's my left shoulder. Doing therapy on it and its better.

Next is finishing the Press that Adam got me inspired to get off my butt and start. :D

I'll take a wellsaw just like Jeff posted, if someone was planning on passing all this stuff out ;)
I really do need something to cut stock with. I can always use the exercise from the old hacksaw, but the time lost is getting to be a real pain in the ass.
I suppose a quality anvil (and forging tools) would be right up there too, and I'd want to build a 2nd forge to go with it.

One thing about back when I was getting started is I could pick a new tool I needed and it wouldn't take too long to save up the money for it. Now I'm still not that well equipped, but I'm at that point when you have to start kicking out the big bucks for stuff  It really sucks!

Two weeks at the ABS Bladesmithing School/ Sierra Forge & Fire, or something similar. Gotta do it one of these days.

Some lessons would have to be top heh. Followed by either a grinder or a forge.

I am still new at making (not actually made a blade yet just done a few handles but I want to do more :) Soon as I move which is hopefuly soon I will be able to set up a small 2 brick forge which means I can try basic HT.

oh, and an extra 12 hours a day to get stuff done :( been working 12-20 hours a day all week just trying to catch up

evenheat HTing oven. man i've got so much stuff i havent touched because i can't do the HT, and havent started anything new because i have so many sitting and waiting.

Higgy, you are thinking too small.#1 on my list would be a water jet cutter. Then my band saw could become a rack for used belts.
