Top three mistakes rookies make,,,

1. Not knowing when to start over rather than trying to fix a mistake.
2. Trying to reinvent the wheel- thumb ramps, wavy spines etc.
3. Not taking heat treat serious enough. (Typically trying to heat treat steels that require precise control in a forge.)
 
I'd love to see some pictures of really bad knives if you guys have something to share. I'm only becomming a rookie so I want to see what I can expect to screw up
 
Leonardo da Vinci never delivered the Mona Lisa but instead, kept working on it trying to improve the painting as he gained skills.
Don't do what Leonardo did and keep working on your first knives trying to make them better than what they are, first knives. If you stay at this you will smile when you look back on your early knives. All of us have been there.
