TOPS BTK, Bird & Trout Knife

Thanks for a nice review Brian,I like the nessy look of that B&T.
Not a real deep belly, but still has the nessy hump.
Thats one more for the damn list.

Thanks Mykel, glad you enjoyed the post. That nessy hump combined with a good tip is fun to work with.

Great review. I have never even heard of this knife. It's good to see TOPS makes more than just sharpened pry bars and tacticool knives.

Thank you. Actually TOPS makes several knives that aren't just sharpened pry-bars...though some of those are still "tactical" in nature.

I've their previous BTK and love it

never know what I'm gonna throw together till I start looking around to see what here :)

That's the best way to cook!

Great review. I love a good b&t. :)

Btw, around here we call those bees "nosey bees", or "meat bees". Incredibly tenacious those rascals. I don't blame you for rolling one in with the bait! ;)

Another fine Mist review, Thanks. I find knives in this size very useful. I am wandering about the fish you let go after you sliced open their chin. Think they lived?

I thought it was a superb review. I generally don't give a second glance to Tops's offerings, but this one appears to be a winner. 440C is a venerable stainless, and that sheath is very appealing. I like the blade profile. All in all a nice package.

Hi all,

I realize this is an old thread. I discovered the TOPS BTK (while doing research) recently and the BTK looks like a awesome EDC lil' fixed blade that would be very handy. I am seriously thinking about buying this knife! I also like the Grohmann Canadian #1 (and #2) Belt Knives and the "spin offs" such as the Knives of Alaska Yukon and the Bark River Canadian version. The new KA-BAR "Gamestalker" also appeals to me being sort of a cross between the Canadian Belt Knife and a Nessmuk. Of all the knives I've just mentioned, I have no doubt that the TOPS BTK would be one of the most "handy" of the bunch due to it's small size. I like it!

Sorry to bring this old thread up, but why would you mutilate a fish and then release it back to the wild? Seems very un-responsible to me!!!

Well, I had every intention of eating them...till I got the phone call that changed the coarse of my day. I thought it better to release them and let them live than to let them die in vane in the bed of my truck on a road trip.

mistwalker,

Do you still have the BTK?
Did you use it in the field?
If so, how was it as a utility knife
Was the handle big enough?
