Tops knives

With some of their designs, yes that's true. They have a lot of knives that will actually cut now though. Give em a look.

Tops has so many wild designs that there has to be something for everybody. I took a chance on a Dragonfly and I'm glad I did. The blade is only 1/8th thick with a very thin edge and will cut circles around just about every knife I have in that size.

The quality seems to be on par with ESEE and others.

EDIT to add pictures: The blade is also uncoated and all the goofy advertising rubbed off after a few uses.

I have the Viper scout. It is a very good knife in my opinion. It would make a very good hunting or bushcraft knife. The handle is very comfortable and offers many different grips. and it stay sharp only needing a little touch up on the strop after a weekend of camping.

Besides the names and logos on the blades, I suppose that what is counting is "is the knife and the blade effective / functional or not ?".
I suppose that the TOPs knives that I have mentioned some days ago ARE....
As well as the ESEE knives are, of course.
In the field what counts is effectiveness. That is all!

Exactly that is why I don't need all the logos and names engraved on the blade they serve no purpose other than being ugly.

I tried my first TOPS knife about five years ago. I do not remember the model now, but it was very much an (unsharpened) pry bar. The grind was terrible and it would not cut for crap. I promptly returned it.

Fast forward to this year - I tried a BOB, and that is a dynamite knife. So much so that I bought two of them. Then I tried a Dragonfly - Man, what a knife! It will cut circles around most any custom I've owned (except for a couple of Hankins hunting knives) and it is just about the perfect playin' in the woods knife. I am probably gonna buy another one, and a CUB as well for when I'm around Sheeple and don't want to stampede the herd....

Esee - My Izula II is the perfect little necker. I just wish it wasn't coated. Had a 3, nice knife, hated the coated blade, gave it to my buddy (who loves it). I plan on buying a stonewashed version at some point. Had a 5, returned it. Hated the handle, the coating and it was too thick.

If I wanted a knife for general purpose camping, bushcraft and playing around outside (and even as a gutting/skinning knife ), I'd buy another Dragonfly in a second. If I were gonna be around Sheeple, I'd get either a TOPS CUB or a stonewashed Esee 3. Either is a great knife.

I have to say that I am not staying on the logos etc. Is the blade strong enough and is it cutting well? If yes, that is OK, then. Is it reliable and easy to be sharpened ? If yes, that is OK, then.
And I have to say that my TOPS are strong, functional, effective, reliable cutting and general utility tools.
Of course the ESEE products are dominant factors in the cutting tools industry.
But and the TOPS products are deserving their place there...
