TOPS Knives

I think they have a lot of nice designs, good fit and finish, etc. However, they are over priced, IMO. Also, if I was to buy another one, I would make sure that it had a flat grind or a hollow grind (look at the enlarged pics on their website to check). Many (most?) of their knives are sabre ground. This grind combined with their knives made from thick stock makes getting a good edge almost impossible. I had to reprofile to 30 degrees and then lay on a 40 degree edge.

When I said in an earlier post that TOPS knives "are expensive", I didn;t mean to imply I thought they were "too expensive". I mean, I've only fondled them but I think they're well-made (whatever that means - chunk of good steel, a smear or two of quality epoxy, couple of slabs of Micarta, done). If a guy likes their designs, I don;t think their prices are outrageous. Just be careful of the grind.....you might find you wanted a finer edge than you can get from their big knives without re-working the primary bevel.
