Tops Knives?

Exactly, I ordered a Steel Eagle last year, and a Tracker some three/four years ago, and sold them both - they didn't even come with working edges.. Sure, they could chop a tree down and all that machismo shizz  but couldn't even slice paper.. Lame

I also don't like that they sell out to Discovery channel survival gurus, but then again, Tops cant be as bad as Bear Grylls line.. they cant even put the knives in a decent box in the store, they hang them up (in some plastic shell like batteries) next to the granola bars in REI.. What happened to that blade bear had in the first few seasons?? That was all one would ever need..

Just like ESEE's....no box, plastic bag, no foolin'. Oh, and the 3 ESEE's I have don't cut paper either, but do fine work doing what they were designed to do.

Still prefer a fixed that can do both, you know, be a knife, cut things, otherwise get an axe like normal person

Well, i suggest everyone needs to learn to sharpen their knives the way they want. Everyone likes something different in an edge. Convex, concave, working edge, hair whittling edge, durable edge, slicing edge, etc. Many of my new blades would not even rip paper-let alone slice/shave it. Yet they ALL do now. I have only had a few knives that just would not seem to take a good edge & i gifted them away to non-knife people who where glad to have them. With the proper tools, it only takes a few minutes to get a paper shaving, hair popping edge on. I have had to thin out many of my thick blades to get that edge. No biggie to me. Best of both worlds the way i see it. 1/4" thick for strength, yet shaves paper & hair.

I'm just sayin', i mean we are knife enthusiasts, right ?
