Tops MSK sheath question

So this is more of a question to someone who's already done this to theirs and knows if it'll work or not. I'm really digging the knife itself, awesome little EDC fixed blade, but... I'm not a big fan of how it's supposed to be carried.

I would love to attach a Tek-Lok to the sheath, but from everything I've read so far the holes won't match up. Believe me, I've searched all over the place and all I learned is that a Tek-Lok won't work.

Does anyone happen to know if the Spyderco G Clip(or anything else for that matter) would work with this particular sheath? It'd feel like a waste to buy a new Kydex sheath just to affix a Tek-Lok to it when the factory sheath is great.

If someone knows if the G Clip would work that'd be awesome, or if anyone else has an idea I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

I happen to own the G-clip, and both large and small Tek-loks, but I do not own this knife/sheath. Why don't you measure the distance on-center between the holes and present that information, then we can tell you if it will work. In many cases, the hole-spacing will not line-up perfectly horizontal or vertical but might line-up on an angle with one of the accessories.

Alternatively, you can make yourself an adapter to carry the sheath how you want or to bridge the hole-difference between your selected accessory and the knife sheath.

I just measured the horizontal spacing and center to center it's 1 and 3/4 inch. I don't own either, but I'm considering just buying a G Clip seeing as their a whole $6.00 or so.

I tried roughly mapping out ways where I could try to get them to line up on the G clip formate and it looks like a possibility, I just wanted to try to get a definite just incase someone knew of some other belt clip adapter that worked better.

I'll actually take a picture and show the sheath to give you a better idea, though. Thanks for the reply.

Excuse the paracord, haha.

The Spyderco G-clip holes are 1" o.c. corner-to-corner as well as from a given corner diagonally to the opposite inner-square corner (understand what I mean?).
Between each outer-corner hole and its nearest inner-corner hole, as well as between adjacent inner-corner holes, spacing is ~27/64" o.c.
The diagonal distance between outer corners is 1 and 27/64".
Between each outer corner and the inner-corner angled slightly away, the distance is 3/4" o.c.

The Large Tek-lok holes are spaced 3/4" o.c., and the small tek-lok holes are 1/2" o.c.

On that sheath, is it 1 and 3/4" from rivet-hole to rivet-hole, or really just from the first rivet to the second bare hole? Not that it matters, 7/8" still isn't going to work with the G-clip.

But the G-clip is just a folded bit of plastic (well, it's actually injection-molded in that shape) - you could make your own version with holes properly spaced for your sheath with just a bit of plastic (might be able to do it with an old credit/gift card) and a heat-gun and a drill.

Alternatively, you could just mount ANY accessory via a single screw through a single hole. I recommend using a rubber washer and maybe some thread-lok to keep the screw from loosening accidentally, but this would also allow you to rotate the knife+sheath on an axis to the orientation you prefer at any given moment. And given the size of this knife, I recommend the SMALLEST accessory that you can get away with.

Finally, you could have someone like me make you a pocket-clip adapter (using a nite-ize eCLIPse or some other product) for easy pocket-carry. Example:

I follow about 80% of what you said, but it was enough to get the answer I was looking for, haha. I did measure hole to hole rather than rivet to rivet. It would end up being 2 and half inches between rivet to rivet on the bottom of the sheath.

I really appreciate your recommendations on other ways to achieve the end result and I'm sure it'll be put to use. I'll probably play around with it for a while until somethings works right, haha.

Thank you again for response. It gave me really good advice as well as answering the original question(s) I had.

Glad to help, and good luck on coming up with something that works for you :) Enjoy your carry!
