Hey, everyone. I put this setup together a while back because:
A) Myself and the S.O. were planning a bunch of camping trips.
2) I didn't have large fixed blade.
D) Piggyback rigs are cool.
Well, through the art of compromise (and her insistence on a functioning toilet and shower...) our camping trips became renting a cabin on the water, and this set up is overkill for that. It hasn't even left my gear bag on the last 2 trips.
This sale is for a TOPS Moccasin Ranger, TOPS Mini Scandi, and a TOPS firesteel. All were purchased new by yours truly. I am selling this as a package, and I'm considering it a "user", but please read each individual description regarding condition, and feel free to PM any questions.
The Moccasin Ranger has not been used and it is the original edge. (which, in my experience, do not come "shaving sharp" from TOPS). The edge did show some rust from being around the water at one point and was steel wooled if memory serves. There is still discoloration and a patina on the exposed edge of the blade. I am confident that a good cleaning and sharpening would remedy this. Also, the micarta is darkened from oiling.
The Mini Scandi also has the original edge. It saw some light use, mainly cutting crawlers. I'm GUESSING that's what caused the weird staining/patina on the blade. This one also had some surface rust cleaned off, and I recommend a good cleaning and sharpening. The micarta shows more darkness/staining than the Ranger. There is a striker for the steel on the lanyard, don't recall where it came from.
The steel has been struck a handful of times just to try out. (I cheat and carry a lighter and fuel blocks...) The only modification is that these are shipped from TOPS with only one hole in the kydex so that you can drill it to fit your sheath, which I did.
2 TOPS warranty cards are also included, but only the bag from the Ranger.
