tops power eagle or junglas

he wasnt being insulting thats just how we talk in philly (manayunk born an raised)!! .........btw id go for the junglas as i just did for the complete package i.e sheath/knife/warrenty/etc etc

I was trying to decide between these two a few months ago. I postponed a final decision by spending a third as much on a Condor Golok (new full-tang model). I LOVE ESEE products but, as Krausshauss so crudely opined, the Junglas is not designed for chopping like a PE or Golok. That said, with excellent ergonomics and a 10" blade, I'm sure it chops a hell of a lot better than my ESEE-6.

you know what you guys should do is thank nutnfancy or else you wouldnt have any selection for large blade survival knives. Because "they didnt start making to many large blade survival til I (nutnfancy) started talking about them."

LOL i heard him say that in one of his videos almost verbatim.

To be fair, he did kind of come across as a bit of a douche bag in that grammar and spelling error laden rant.

You're not in Philly here, you are on Bladeforums.

douchebag? maybe so, my girl should proof read my comments, shes a teacher, cause im not in philly right now apparently. my apologies if hurt peoples feelings with poor grammar and bad words. the junglas was designed for light chopping on sticky icky and self defense not heavy choppin and clearin trails. the tops is just a better performer all around when were talkin dedicated choppers. you should get both tho they are awsome tough blades

As much as I love ESEE (heck--I'm RAT Pack #6!) I'd probably go with the Power Eagle. Both are fine choppers, but I like the longer and broader blade of the Power Eagle. Jeff Randall himself said that the Junglas was made more because people were asking for it and that a cheap machete would do the job just as well! :p

I've had both. Got rid of the Power Eagle and kept the Junglas because I found the handle shape on the PE too blocky. Junglas also has much nicer sheath, though the PE one is OK. That said, the PE is the bigger knife, so would probably win a head-to-head chop-off, and I was prepared to let it go because I plan on getting a large bolo-style chopper custom made with a handle that works better for me.
