Hello everyone. I was just wondering if anyone knows the weight of a TOPS Street Scalpel. Also, is it comfortable to wear as a neck knife?

The street scalpel is on chunk o' steel. Micarta handle is approximately 5.6 OZ being a little thicker than the paracord wrap.

If your looking for a lighter weight/comfortable package in a neck knife the Lagriffe is the one.

I've got the cord wrapped model. It's a little heavy for how small it is, but it's also 1/4" thick! It's crazy tough too. You can really brutalize this knife and it comes back for more. After wearing it around my neck for a while, I forgot it was there. At $40, you can't afford NOT to get one!

I own a cord wrapped scalpel, and it does seem a bit overengineered and weighty for a neck knife. Last week I bought their new "Scorpion", which is a lot thinner material in a mini-kukri shape with a way-kewl kydex mounting system including a neck chain. It was $80, but well worth it!

Just 'cause yer paranoid don't mean someone ain't out to get ya!

look at either a wicked knife co woo (about $30) or a cammilus arclite (about $20) - ya cant beat these 2 for neck knives, my bud has a woo, i have the cammilus, the woo is a little better, like a 95 to a 92, just a little better quality, but both are light, functional well made products very much worth 2 times the price IMHO......

I made a sheath for a customer a year ago for a SS. The real challenge was setting the sheath up so that it would draw easily, but not fall out due to the weight. It was a challenege, but the final sheath turned out quite a bit more usable (and smaller) than the original.
IMO, the SS is better for belt or pocket carry than neck due to its weight. I think it would be pretty uncomfortable. The ideal would be a horizontal belt sheath. It's a cool knife, but not for neck carry.

I have a SS that I felt was way too heavy to wear around the neck. So I made a Concealex sheath for Reverse grip belt carry. The knife is VERY well suited for this type of carry and is lightning fast to draw. It sure is one tough little knife.
