Tops Surivial Knife

I remember reading an article on the custom version. It's well thought out and would be a good backup knife to have on you. But it's a little small, and a chisel ground blade not the best for general woods use. But if I were stuck somewhere, I'd feel okay having it.

If it's the same as the custom, there were strong magnets in the sheath to help hold the knife in.

Yeah its magnetic retention.. Looks like a decent little piece of kit. I wouldnt use it as a stand alone survival kit but it would be a good backup, or something to EDC with an Altoids can full of other stuff.

is great, get rid of that chisel grind and get a more usable blade(not into tanto grinds) and it would be great as a back-up blade:D:D:thumbup:

I I were to go for a Tops knife, I would go with this one first.

You think that free advertisement would be appreciated. What design was it Aaron?

i had seen that knife a while back... looks pretty handy.. though i'm not too thrilled about the chisel grind...:thumbdn:

aaron.. i like that overlander.. there isn't too many tops knives that i can say that about....

I feel like a lot of thought went into the sheath and overall setup, which is neat. I have no interest whatsoever in the blade though. Tanto = crap, chisel= crap.

The cons:
Blade - tanto (yeahk)
Steel - 154cm (yawn)
Handle - (what handle?)

The pros
-10" of paracord on the the handle - well I could use that as a lanyard for a nicer knife :)

I do like many of TOP's offerings but this one doesn't appeal to me at all.

hope the tops guys take some of this into consideration and make a new one, then I might buy it.

Trace hit it on the head. Overall I was very pleased with it during the review. I was amazed with the whole package and found it to be a great little backup. NO, I would not want it to be my only knife but it was never meant to be. While working on the article I was using one of the custom models but the TOPS version is a rather close match.

It was the Overlander. But hey what you going to do. I didn't steal it just endorsing it from their site. I still think the Overlander is a solid design. But it is my last endorsement for them. Maybe this pic is ok since it isn't from their site.

Overlander would be a lot better knife than that tanto and it has a REAL handle.
