Tops Tracker or Fox Trakker?

I am waiting to purchase a high quality survival knife, both the Fox Trakker and the Tops Sxb catch my eye. My question would be to the durability and impact toughness of each knife. I know both manufacturers utilize good materials. But which material is overall best for hard use? The n690co or the 1095?

I would suggest you take an assessment of the environment that you live in and see what would actually suit you better. One knife trying to do everything (chop, detail work, saw) or a few smaller objects. A folding bucksaw, a Good fixed blade for harder utility work, and a stable folder for daily tasks.
-the only way that this knife would help is if it was strapped to a bag, or else you would have a house or car with you. Toss some extra tools in your bag and make your life easier.

The only reason I suggest this is due to the fact that the majority of people I see purchase these, tend to drift away from the one tool option, to a more favorable, less calorie burning breadth of tools. Ones that will help your survival as opposed to you having to "make" one thing work for you.
---------
That being said, I would suggest 1095 as the "better" option.

I had a Tracker and sold it. It was OK but I never got totally on board with it.
A TOPS Tahoma recently found its way into my collection. I have not actually gotten to use it yet but I already like it more than the Tracker just handling it around the house. An aftermarket sheath for it is a must though. The factory one is no good. I bought this one through Andy Tran's website; it's made by Red Feather Gear.

You can see the Tracker hiding behind the S&W 627-5 that I carry hiking.

Tracker is cool but almost too "tacticool" to really be effective. Stay away from tactical for survival with a couple exceptions such as Kabar or Ontario. Excellent working knives like Beckers or Rangers. 1095 or 5160 (Ontario Ranger Afghan) will take the punishment. For truly the best look to Esee, or if your pockets are really deep, Busse.

I had the mid size tracker from Tops, the T2, and I took a Byron Kerns survival class with it, did everything just fine. I paired it with a Leatherman and an Izula and an Opinel for carving. I don't use it anymore, but if it works for you, get it. My choice now is a BK7 or a Tops HOG 4.5 as a main blade.

IMO the tracker takes some getting time to get used too. It is heavy and if you don't take the time to learn how to use it you will not like it.
