TOPs XcEST ALPHA

The handles look like they'd be comfortable, though I wouldn't store anything in them. Other than that, the sheath is about the only thing interesting about it.
A geometry for not cutting, a tip for not piercing, a serrated ramp for chewing up your thumb...kinda nice how they bead blasted it to maximize surface area, and minimize corrosion resistance, though:rolleyes:
This may be a serviceable tool, but there's just not much to like, especially when you can get something like a RC-3 for $50 less.

btw, a recurve does not "lengthen" the edge, but effectively shortens it by forcing the material being cut into the forward curve so that a small portion of the edge does all the work. That's a good thing, because it makes for much better slicing on tough materials, and that knife is going to need all the help it can get.

I like the knife but the edge is going to have to be thinned out....for those dissing 440C personal preferences are awesome but, with a good heat treat 440C is a fine steel ask Ray Ennis. 440C and 1095 are the standby's for tried and true, easy to sharpen in the field blade material (5160 and AUS 8) spring to mind as easy to sharpen, field expedient steels as well. I am off my soap box now. That little TOPS looks like a hell of a cutter with that blade belly as well.

I like this knife a lot, the only thing that has had me on the fence is my own thoughts on tips, but I think I have found a way around that now and plan on putting one through its paces soon for my own reasons.

I kinda dig it...too much dinero tho... Get a HEST....there I said it. :D Seriously tho, that knife u posted is pretty similar to a HEST. Same concept IMO etc. Id rather have a HEST . I AM NOT trying to start WS+S WW3 here....just saying.

I have two HESTs and do like them very much. That said this knife comes with a lot of accessories, a much better sheath, and I love that the scales actually fit the handle...all pluses over the HEST. Also this knife is a lot better field or survival knife for a salt water environment. I see it as easily worth the extra expense.

I am still 50/50 with this model. I looked at one at blade and the edge would cut paper. Super thick

Crappy little saber grind and 440C excessively priced with unnecessary blade coatings?

The blade thickness would be no issue if they made a high grind with decent geometry, but this is terrible.

Cut to the point, are ya getting one or not ?:D
