Tore Fogarizzu 7 ENGRAVER PROJECT

It's very simple David.....in MOST cases(an exception might be a Kerambit, where the longer blade would likely cut off the user's finger) the PURPOSE of a folder is to maximize blade in the handle, otherwise, what is the point of making it?...

There are lots of other reasons to have a short blade in a longer handle. Ask Sal Glesser (he has a product line, little big knives), ask any whittler, ask those people who live where there are knife length restrictions. Bob Loveless designed the City Knife folder for Lone Wolf knives with a shorter blade and longer handle, with jimping on the "wrong" side, because he thought that was the best design for peeling fruit and other city/office uses of a knife. I'd trust Loveless' design concepts, and one of his design criteria was to have the form fit the function.

A bigger handle gives you more real estate for engraving. Your opinion Kohai999 is just that, and can be dead wrong. :)

Please consider that any point you give to that blade/handle ratio you will loose in strenght.
Obviously you need to reduce the tang around the pivot to move it forward. It is a balance act, and for ANY maker is just up to his considerations on the intended purpose of its tool, not a "challenge" in any way from a technical point of view.
What's the choice to have a longer blade?
You can have a slippie that won't see abuse and make a short tang
You can have a tacticool and use stock so thick that make the cutting tool insensate
Or you can make the little blade you actually need, with the handle that comfortably fit the hand and just buy a noiser muffle for the bike to compensate.... ;) LOL
I'm kidding, and also like to max the ratio, but only when i know i can sacrifice a bit of strenght.
For a folding dagger i'd want the full handle for grip and the maximum permitted strength at the pivot for thrusting

^this post shows more understanding of folding knives and their design limitations than any other in this thread, and since the topic of proportion has been brought up, I'm glad someone took the time to explain.

Personally, I found the crass comment which described a clearly personal opinion of this knife and other knives of this type to be unhelpful and unenlightening. But that's just my opinion :)

Hi Guys, If one is the master of one thing and understands one thing well, one has at the same time insight into and understanding of many things. Ciao Tore
