Finally found where I left this one. Here's a cell phone picture:
This was taken at the intersection of 95th and Melvina in July, 2008 (Sorry for the typo in the thread title!!!). We were coming home from a wake when we saw this ferocious line of clouds roar quickly overhead. Right out of Close Encounters. I remarked that I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a tornado out of it.
About a minute later, off went the sirens. We drove carefully, but quickly, watching the cloud line. Then, there she was!
Look carefully to the right of the stoplight, just above the ubiquitous Walgreens sign... see her? The tip of the funnel is touching the middle of the light, and the top of the funnel is dead center. She dipped down, touched ground, and then went back up... I grabbed my phone, went through all 64 menus to get to the camera function, and took this picture just as she lazily rolled onto her side.
She was clearly moving across our field of view, from right to left in this picture. As the light turned green, the funnel cloud just disintegrated into weird strips of cotton and then vanished.
Sirens turned off about ten seconds later.
Sorry I missed the earlier tornado thread with this pic, but I just found it.
