Torque Driver: Am I getting too obsessed?

I like tools myself. If the OP enjoys a special tool to use with his knives, why not? I have my own small "tool set" for disassembly and cleaning of my CRKs, and I enjoy it.
How much $$$ one has or does not have is not an issue here. Neither is a companion relationship.
There are rules concerning personal attacks on this Forum and it sounds to me like we have one in this thread. Unnecessary, uncalled for, and in very poor taste. :thumbdn:

Well said.

Thanks for all the responses! I chuckled myself when reading some of them! This torque driver can't be set to anything by the way, you have to specify the torque when ordering. I used it to strip down the knives (without stripping the screws ;) ) and it seems to work just great.

Am I the only one using this???

I agree, well said Desert Hermit.

There is nothing wrong at all with spending money on good quality items that will no doubt last a life time. If you want to buy a hand tool to accompany a CRK then Wiha are the guys to go with, they are pretty much the best out side of having tools and bits custom made. I also find it rather funny people are ripping on you for buying a $100 torque driver when we are in the CRK sub forum of all places. You don't even want to know what I spend on tools and the like. Yes, I have custom made tools. ;)

To answer you original question. You probably are taking it a bit far, but you are also far from the only one guilty of that, mate. :D:thumbup:

Not that small, but there are plenty of screws in aluminum that require a sensitive touch to avoid over-torquing or possibly stripping.

...............My wife says you have wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much money and no wife or girlfriend.......

Please tell your wife she is wrong on the first account (unfortunately) and on the second account as well (fortunately)! ;)

By the way here is the link where I found the torque settings.

Very interesting tool.
I think the smaller the screw the easier it is to destroy it - so it makes sense to me.

PS: I also use an special oil on my Sebenza and not the one I use on my sewing machine. :)

He's got over $800 in knife sitting right there in the pic. Other makers force you to buy expensive proprietary fastener tools. I say if you've got the $$ and it makes you feel good go for it, just like the knife itself.

In spite of my earlier posts, I absolutely and completely support that! :D

Thats pretty neat actually. If im not mistaken on the crk bladehq video tour it shows a tech using a torque driver like that for the screws.

Indeed, but it looks a bit different to mine and is probably a type which can be set to various torque-settings:

By the way there was mention of 100 USD: I paid 52,15 Euro which is about 67 USD including shipping from here for those in the EU who are interested. A lot of money to be sure!
