I recently purchased a Craftsman torx driver set and a couple of them already stripped! And it wasn't like I was cranking real hard on them or anything! Sears did replace them with their lifetime policy but Id like to buy a really nice set of torx drivers! Any makers out there that use these a lot have a brand that they would recommend? I dont mind spending a few extra bucks for ones that ll last! The Craftsman ones are crap! Probably made in China out of some crappy steel that they also make knives out of! :D Thank you!!!!!

I use a set of Wiha with ESD safe handles for working on computers great quality. Thats weird about your craftsman torx I have one T-6 from them it is marked made in usa though, and it hasn't given me any problems.

Hardened tool steel bits from Brownells are outstanding and also have a lifetime warranty. I've snapped a bunch of craftsman bits, but have yet to break a Brownells bit. Not that it can't or won't happen eventually; because they all have a breaking point, but some are definitely better than others.

I bought both sets at H Freight & one at R Shack. Each one has something the others don't, so i just got them all. They work great & have all sizes. I use them all the time when people bring knives to me to tighten up. Don't forget your 20% off coupon.

Here's the set that I have. They were made in Germany and the quality is superb.

Home Depo has a Husky set for $6 and it is surprisingly nice!

There was a thread on torx a couple weeks ago that prompted me to get the Husky set from HD. It's actually a nice set that looks like it will last. You wouldn't expect the $6 set to perform as well as the Wiha's but it's not bad.

If you use torx a lot, the higher priced tools are probably the better choice, but for the occasional user like me, the $6 set will get it done.

You can always grind the torx bit tip down a little when you strip one. I agree though Wiha are some of the best I have used, get a good one and be done with it.

I used to work as a maint/repair tech in the electronics industry (semiconductor mfg., and in the military prior to that), and got exposed to Wiha tools fairly early. In the years since, I bought several sets of Wiha tools, and they are very nice. Having said that, I also have four of the $6 Husky driver sets (two in standard bits, and two Torx), and have used them a lot more. The bit storage in the handle just makes them a lot more convenient & portable, so I automatically reach for them much more often. They've yet to let me down.

I agree.

I picked this one up for when I travel, especially when on the road for a while:

Bondhus 12632 GorillaGrip, Set of 8 Star Fold-up Keys, sizes T6-T25

I heard good things about the Husky as well, just have not had the need to get it because this worked out so well. I've used it on 3 or 4 of my knives already (a couple BM's, Spyderco's, and my ZT), and each time it did exactly what is was supposed too... something I cannot say for the more traditional looking torx tool (small screwdriver-type) I tried to use on my para2 but degraded before the job was even underway.

The ones i needed to tighten the handle screws on my Gerbers were like T3's. Much smaller than the HD or Lowz carried. If you need em smaller, R Shack or HF has them.
