Torx Tools For Knife Care

you can buy a set of precision torx screwdrivers at sears, or usually good hardware shops will carry torx bits, the sizes you will be looking for are T-10 for the oversized BM pivot pins, T-6 for clips and cell phones! and a T-8 for most other pivot pins, and i've found that a T-8 torx works with most standard allen screw pivot pins

I've used the Sears Craftsman Torx drivers down to a size 6,even in a size T5 is available occasionally in a set from Sears...while good, they wiii twist the driver tip eventually...I've been through several of a size 6 in a year of full time linerlock knifemaking.

Swithched to buying from http://www.wihatools.com/ The quality of the tips are much better on these drivers. The service of the company is excellent and ordering on line is real convenient..look at the System 4 drivers for under T20 sizes....all the way down to T3, T2 and I think even T1. but T5 will do an 0-80 Torxsocket head screw.

I'm going to have to look in the tools department at Sears - shouldn't be hard, I work in Lawn and Garden. :) Can you say ten percent discount?

Asha'man

Aww come one Asha'man, do it right. Lest, way I used to do things when I worked there was to wait until craftsman sales. THen get 10%x2, employee and craftsman discounts. :)

Thanks Little Claw and ETP, I'd previously thought about trying to drill out the little post inside the torx but it's probably better to make a special tool bit as I'm bound to come across more of the things.
Cheers :)

I use a set I bought from sears hardware a couple of years ago. I use it on all my knive and in knifemaking.
