total fake?

O.K. Delmas, I'll bite mate...what do you see that I don't or more to the point what don't you see to believe that clasp is not correct...appears identical to the ones I've owned...USA Schrade did use 'Schrade' without the USA on that one...that's where Taylor got his ideas...is that what you are referring to?...Hoo Roo

Looks exactly like other 13colonies clasp knives I've seen.

I did notice while I was researching these knives last year that the 1976 75th anniversary clasp knife has a + after schrade. where as this one that is part of the 13 colonies set does not. At least on all the ones I've seen.

So my question is has it been established if this knife has a high carbon or stainless steel knife Eventhough it doesn't have the + after Schrade. I don't remember this coming up in the other threads I've read on this knife.

If it was a fake that would have been the nicest stag handle I've seen on a fake.

then i stand corrected the tang just didn't look right to me. but one can always open ones mind to new ideas.

G'day Delmas, refer my reply on the History of the 13 Colony's I just re-birthed....you are right the Tang doesn't look right for a USA Schrade....one would expect to see USA...Schrade never knew how important it was going to be for identification for us dedicated collectors much further down the track, with Taylor weaving his Schitschrade magic...Hoo Roo

Some of the most desirable Schrades, from 1947 to 195X did not have U.S.A. on the tang, just SCHRADE/ WALDEN NY (I think; I am not able to access my records at the moment.)

Correct TR. Usually they were without a back tang pattern number on the master blade, and frequently said knives were stamped on multiple blades identical to the master.

are there any 13 colony "REPLICAS" or fakes out there with the whole set down to the display case with blue velvet & individual boxes for each state.. I hope not cause I just bought a complete set last night 12/11/15.. would sure appreciate your opinion..

You should be good to go on those Parker 13 colony knives. There would be no incentive to fake them. Should be a nice display!

Just having Schrade Walden NY on the tang might be a strong indicator that it was made in the United States I would think?

There are post-2004 knives with SCHRADE WALDEN tang stamps. They are not made in Walden or Ellenville. There are even legitimate pre-2004 Schrade Walden knives that were not made until the 1980s or 1990s. It is confusing; I have most of it figured out, but I still scratch my head once in a while.

But if it says Schrade Walden NY, I would be most confident it was referring to a place inside of The United States.

Yes, that much would be true. Here are pics of one I just pulled off the 'bay.' I have no idea what it is, but it is NOT a pre-1973 knife. But it has that Walden stamp.

Oh, I see what you're saying.
Whoever did that used knife making skills with malicious intent. What a shame. :(

Is it an unfinished Cigar Box Classic with no shield or no etch?

True. I believe the green ones came out in 2003. I have an unfinished 2004 CBC muskrat with jigged redish brown bone and matching unfinished 4.25" trapper. Both with that tang stamp.

Just remembered I have a pic

Very well might be. Or a Utica?

The Cigar Box Classic set has the "Schrade+ U.S.A. L.T.D" tang stamp.
All my 2003 and 2004 knives all have the same tang stamp, even the ACB Blue bone knives.
Schrade use the N.Y. tang stamp on the Red Bone set, in the mid 1980's
Mr. Taylor has used that Walden tang stamp since 2004.

I do not have a knife in my collection with a Walden tang stamp, that was not made by Schrade, in Walden.

I bet you do. Not all Schrade Walden knives were made in Walden. Many were made in Ellenville post 1958 and pre 1973.
