Tough Blacking for folder blades

I have tried bake-on enamel, cold-blue and sandblasting to darken blades on some of my folding knives.

As the blades are opened and closed, friction marks begin to show [right at the tang], exposing the shiny steel again.

Is there anything that someone actually uses themselves for folders that will withstand normal usage?

Thanks!
Dave

Have you thought about coating the blade with TiAlN(Titanium Aluminum Nitride)
It has a dark grey color and it is normally used for prolonging the life of cutting tools so it is very hard and you should not be able to scratch it.

Check out www.nctcoating.com www.brycoat.com or do a search on pvd.
