What about CHEAP enough to use for anything? :)

I don't want to use it as a piton. I just want a folder that tough incase I had to. Just to use as an example of toughness. Saying something that ''use the right tool'' reminds me of the quick smarta@% comments people make. like when someone asks something like, whats the best survival knife.'' Oh it's the one you have on you when you need it''. hahaha, wow how funny and quick and smart. Yeah. Anyway, I've been climbing for the past 15 years, and free soloing for the past 5. I assure you I know what tools I need.Just saying hypotheticly What folders come to mind when useing that as an example.

Well, then I am sure you are also smart enough to know that it is not that hard to break any folder. You are already looking at the wrong tool. You might know your climbing gear, but you seem to be a bit off on your knife choice.

'Zactly.

I've climbed for more than 15 years. Wouldn't even *consider* a knife as pro any more than I'd consider a tent stake as a piton.

I get that you wouldn't consider it, either... but if you don't give us much to go on, then, since that was your SOLE criterion.

So what else do you mean by "tough?" Otherwise this becomes a list of "Name every durable folder you can think of." Which is just what you're getting.

Is'nt the best survival knife the one you have with you then?
Maybe it's the TOPS Tracker you left in your bedroom drawer cos it's too heavy!!!

Stratofighter? Ha Ha Ha Ha.

Please note the previous posts which have excellent recommendations.

Honestly, in my opinion (which is worth exactly what you're paying for it), I don't think you're going to find a folder that you could comfortably use to hammer into something and then stand on, or use as a piton.

I can't think of a single folder that I would feel comfortable using in that way. Not one.

That's why I carry a fixed blade.

You'll get more useful info if you lose the 'tude.

So, if you aren't actually planning on using this folding knife as a piton, exactly what activities will you be performing with it?

The more information you provide, the closer to what you are looking for will be the suggestions.

Personally, like so many others, what comes to mind for me is a fixed blade.

oh boy this topic again. Well folders aren't supposed to be tough knives, but for the money, I like the Manix the best and for a little more money the Microtech LCC, which is no longer made unfortunately.

As for fixed blades in that price range, Scrapyard spanks everything else mentioned above. And in a large folder sized blade my scrapyard yardkeeper is unbeatable.
