So I decide to resolve this year not to buy any new gear, I got a few things for christmas, And I think istead of buying new. I will focus on altering repairing current gear, I have knives that need handles and sheaths, and tons of stuff that needs to just be sorted and put together into workable kits.

I nearly broke down yesterday when I got a cabela's sale paper with buck diamond backs for 7$, and other gear cheap.

I am also not buying any more EMS or rescue gear. I figure that If I can hold out till May I can splurge a little at the conventions.

This Forum Makes it tough but I am going to try to make it through.

 are you feeling okay man...:o haha..:D

that would never work for me..... good luck....

I'll give it a shot with you....sounds like a good idea....OH, as long as we dont count the custom knives I ordered last year...then I'm in. :D

Nothin' wrong with that. I am trying to do something similar. I have 4 knives inbound and 2 are already going on the block. I switched from a Kifaru Scout pack to an LC2 Alice, and am more than happy. I just want to get out of the craze and use more than last year. I have and use Busse and Koster knives along with plenty of great gear, but I really don't want to want more and more gear. What I am after now is a couple more firearms and archery gear along with more experiences on the trail. Best of luck to you in your endeavors, see ya outside.

My wife resolved that same thing. FOR ME.:D LOL.

I am going to try to cut back though.

awsome post. im not sure i would want to hold myself to that but i agree with the principal. im making an effort to use what i have more and not just be a collector of stuff. its amazing how many posts i see (mostly on other forums) that show gear that has never seen the elements or dirt and knives with perfect finishes. post some pics of your projects.

Cool...It's WAY more fun making gear than shopping for new stuff to spend $$ on. See if you can find pics of the traditional kit that forumite Magnussen made.Great stuff !
