Toughest folder....yet again...

Do any of the manufacturers above put out a proof Video like Cold Steel does?

It would be cool, but companies like benchmade, kershaw and spyderco have a reputation that far surpases what any video could do for cold steel.

Well said Trimcut!

Many custom maker makes crazy strong knives.

Rick Hinderer, RJ Martin, Tom Mayo, waay too many.

As a "newbie", what constitutes Tough in a knife? Sideways prying-type or edge holding, something else?

TIA

Blade-Overall thickness, lateral streangth HRC and blade material
Lock-handle both vertical and horizontal stress on the lock and not disengage
Build-If the knife has full liners or just one half titanium and other half g-10
There are many ways to judge what makes the strongest knife. And how to compare. Its a debate that could go on forever...? Me thinks.

In my opinion, the Rick Hinderer XM-18 IS one of the toughest knives out there!

Also, if you CAN get one, a Shane Sibert Pocket Rocket IS a fantastic, tough, and a beast of a knife.

Shoot, I have not been able to find a XM anywhere. I posted on the WTB, and no luck. I have checked BladeForums daily with no luck. I am potentially going to be leaving the coutry for a trip and will need a super tough folder and the XM flipper really seamed to fit the bill but, none around I have found:(.

Toughest one I've personally used hard for years is the TOPS CQT Magnum 747. It has performed almost to the degree of a fixed blade. Can't compare it to other tough folders because I haven't used others side-by-side. Never needed to!

All of these posts and not a single Emerson mentioned? My Emerson Commander is as tough a knife as any. Emerson knives aren't called "The #1 Hard Use Knife" for nothing.

Oh yeah, in my signature right now is a Strider/buck military folder 889, just by coicidence :D:o

Kirby Lambert's Fireball is a tank of a folder.

Best bang for the buck tank I have seen would be a buck strider 881, or a ZT 300.

thats true. we are all constantly trying to find the toughest, or the smoothest, or what other category.

The perpetual search for the "toughest folder" is like a continuous search for the butterface with the biggest silicone cans.

They're all overbuilt, ugly as sin, and more suited to an alcoholic driven fantasy than to the harsh light of reality.

I guess I need to find "What's the best cutting folder?" thread and keep using smaller fixed blades for prybar duties.

There's Farid- his stuff is ridiculously overbuilt.
Lots of good results folks-

New knife, Spyderco Endura 4 with Stainless Steel handles. Smooth as a baby's bottom and sturdy as can be. Great blade length and thickness. Tough as nails and I can't wait to use it. Seems like it could fall into this category.

:thumbup:ZT0200 is the toughest folder I've ever laid my hands on.Would like to see a framelock version though. The QCQ-12 is probably way up there too.Never held one though.

I love my Endura, but really wouldn't put it in the "tough" catagory.

Too thin to really beat/baton or pry with.
