Toughest production folder

Sorry about that, it's the Extrema Ratio M.P.C. folder.

Here's mine:

We hear a lot of talk about the Lone Wolf Harsey and the Extrema folders. How about some reviews? We don't need torture tests, but I'd like to hear from people who own and use them. The Harsey looks like a nice big knife.

edited to add:
Thanks for the photo, BT! Looks like a tough knife.

I´ll put a second vote for the Buck 110 (though the one I had was it´s little brother the 112).

Used it and abused it for many years, strong sharp blade, solid lock, heavy bolsters that can hammer in a pinch, it was stolen and I replaced it with a 422, which has a lightweight handle, still good and tough but I miss those heavy strong brass bolsters.

Of the folders I've owned, the toughest, in my opinion, are:

1) Sebenza. This really goes without saying.

2) SOG Tomcat. The strongest lockback I've ever seen.

3) Benchmade 720. Doesn't get much ink here, but very well made.

4) Buck 112. I carried one for years and used it for every task imaginable. Cut every kind of material with it, includeding heavy wire; opened beer cans with it; pried with it (yes, of course I broke the tip off!).

OKAY HOLD IT !
Here's the deal.. This thread always comes up and needs to be settled once and for all! The five most common (correct me if Im wrong) knives that we continue to hear as arguments are... 1) Strider AR
2) Sebenza
3) Chinook
4) Buck/Strider
5) Sere 2000
The problem is nobody (including myself) wants to put our beloved/expensive knives through torture tests that will surely hurt them. SO heres my offer.. Everybody chips in some money to purchase one of each of these knives which will be sent to me.. and I will perform a series of documented and inventive tests of strength to each including.. heavy prying, chopping, stomping, throwing, stabbing, slicing cement, etc., When Im finished I will post reports and pics! ITS THE ONLY WAY WE"LL GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS!!!!!!!

I'd like to point out that the thread starter did say that Sebenzas and Striders weren't in his price range and he doesn't consider them production folder...more like semi somthing...Hehe ;)

Since the idea here is give him good idea for a knife quite pissing into the wind and say somthing other than Sebenza and Strider all the time. :footinmou

Personally I'm kind of tired of hearing about them anyway  ...IMHO they aren't too easy on the eyes either. :barf:

Hey, Knife, I'd like to point out that the thread starter said exactly this:

What do you consider the toughest production folder? I'd say the Benchmade 710, Cuda Maxx, or Lonewolf Harsley tactical folder.

Someone else pointed out that the real high-end, semi-custom knives cost enough to have to be that kind of tough, so how about we restrict the discussion to reasonably priced production knives?

Fine, but understand the reason CRK and Strider and ER will come up all the time is that they are the best :D And some of us think they look pretty good, too. If you don't, well, think of all the money you save by buying cheaper knives.

I should also point out that the CUDA Maxx is a close match for the custom Darrel Ralph Madd Maxx, as I can tell by putting mine side by side, and the Lonewolf Harsey is probably as much a semi-custom as CRK and Strider and ER.

To each his own, or there wouldn't be much of a knife industry! :p

I really don't consider the sebenzas or striders production; more like semi-custom, or semi-production or something semi, anyway. For my budget, they're way to expensive to put to good use without a sense of dread. But I agree; striders are about the toughest on the market, then sabenzas.

Actually I was refering to this post... he posted right after you. (page 2)

In my world 120 is about as much as I want to pay.

So I sugest:
BM 520
BM 710
Spydie Chinook
or a balisong if your into that...The 42SS is nice if you can find one ;)

Me too. A "Grifon" and a "Raptor". I still need a neighbour to come over and help me whenever I want to open one, but they're loosening up a bit since I bought them just over a year ago. ;)

If someone ran over them with a tank, I would seriously worry about what damage they might do to the tank.

In addition to those two folders, I also have the "Fox Fighter Saxon", the "Whisper Drop Point", an "MST", and an "FPC".

All Greco. All tough.

(O yea, and I've recently been "converted" to Strider: Sng and AR)
