toxification?

does anyone have a tutorial or can give me a general idea of how this effect is achieved on knife handles? i like the hammered or chipped obsedian look

I made sak scales like that, I just used the round ball head on my dremel and made deep gouges into the wood for an axe hewn effect. Looks like the buck chip flint knives. I bet you can do it on the blade too.
