tracker v Evo Survival

I would want a blade heavy balance in that style of blade, neutral balances offer no power on a swing, and really what does cosmetics matter on a survivial blade or a user in general, they all look like hell after the first time they are seriously used and sharpened. Every time I get a custom I tell the makers to not do any finish work, leave the blade with the shaping grit finish even, don't buff the handle.

I don't like the serrations on the spine of the EVO though, I have never used chisel tipped patterns that cut well enough for me to want them they are just not fluid enough, similar for saw teeth though. As well the way the grip indexing continues into the top of the recurve section, plus the recurve section is at a weird angle for draw knife work.

The Survival Tool looks much better, I'd get it without the spine serrations, plain carbon steel.

Thanks guys. I have been looking at the Linger option since Myakka posted his first review of his WSK. Now with Jeff posting his ill defently get my name on the list soon. I guess my SRK will do until then. I was also wondering Jeff, is your WSK in 1075. If so how does it compare to Myakka's WSK in o-1. And 1075's general overall performance. Is it better or worse than 1095, etc.

Again thanks for you input

Ghost,

Mine is 1075, but I have never used anything with 0-1 or 1095, so I really wouldn't be ble to tell you. I have used it quite a bit and it does seem to hold a very good edge. I'm sure if you talk to Roger he would be more than happy to talk with you about the different options in steels and so forth.

Congrats on your choice, you wont be disapointed :D

I finally received my WSK, two days ago and I must say that it is well worth the wait. Mine is blade heavy which aides in the WSK being a phenomenal chopper. I'm sorry but my Cuda CQB has been officially retired. Just to test the blade, I IMMEDIATELY went to work on an old birch in my backyard. I made short work of that lil tree and the blade was still sharp enough to give me my first "battle scar".. lol Trust me, when I say that Linger puts out a top notch blade. The h*ll with an EVO -- Linger, all the way baby... Next up is a custom sheath to accompany my precious.

Has anyone else have trouble contacting someone at Jensen Blades?? Emailed 'em twice but no luck in hearing back from them...

He is arround and even on the boards yesterday ot the day before. I have been told that he is extremely busy these days, but he will get back to you.

I like your attitude! This is what I plan to ask for now...

Regarding contacting Peter. I do beleive that he is busy but, he is around. Let me know if you would like something passed on and I will call JEB and pass it on verbally for you.

Hey gundy just emailed you today, I just was wondering what the standard going price for the EVO Assault is. Hey do any of you know how to get something like sap stains off of a blade?

I exchanged a few emails a couple of months ago and had good response time with them all. Unfortunately, I was (still am) too broke to spring for one of his giant fixed blades that I don't actually have a legitimate use for right now. Now, if I had the $$$, I'm sure I could find a way to make one useful.... :D :D

Peter sent me a note last week saying my EVO will be in my hands in a week or two. Yes, it took a while to get Peter to reply in the first place, but I think the effort will be worth it.

Around how long has it been since you ordered the knife? Would he be willing to make it to my specs, lets say 1.5" to 2" shorter? I want one but if its going to take forever for him to reply and four months to get the knife I'm over it.

Peter is more than willing to work with to your specs. I have requested my last two knives built to my specs and came to me beautifully and well crafted.

Got these back earlier this week. The bushman is precision ground from 1/4 inch D2. He ordered that from Admiral since he did not have it on hand. Normally the standard in this blade is the 3/16, but I wanted something beefier. The new leather is from out very own ArmorallLeather. If you have not checked him out yet, you need to. His work is outstanding, but most of us already know that :p

I have tried an Evo and tracker side by side on various mediums and can tell you that the evo out performed the tracker in every respect , to be fair the tracker was better finished but this is a user not a safe queen , if its a no nonsense user you are after peter makes one hell of a knife , if you are after something "pretty" a tracker could be the go , my 2 cents , all the best , Fishmonger

Well I really wanted a JEB EVo survival but I don't think think I'll be ordering one, Peter seems like he doesn't want my business, so I wont try any further to give it to him.

Peter Jensen made "The Floro".....a knife I designed with him.

However, due to A LOT of complaints.........I'm pulling the plug on him.

I'm looking for a new knife maker who will answer his emails, answer his phone messages......and someone who won't deceive anyone about delivery dates.

As a result.....I've turned away at least a dozen orders for the Floro knife.

Hey Ray love the knife but I would rather have a single cutting edge. I agree Peter doesn't seem to want to have a normal knife making business and is getting some bad press for it, though it doesn't seem to be bothering him, maybe when the bills start adding up though....

Hey Bvshido,

Couldn't agree with you more...........

I'm currently working on a single edged design using "Green River Knives" blades.

The variation is in the handle....as it will be modified to cater for reverse grip / edge in use.

I found with the Australian laws......I could take double edged knives out of the country...but could not get it back in :-(

The new "Green River Floro" will be easy to make.....way cheaper, but still retain all the "fighting" capabilities I look for in a knife. The asthetics would be more "old fashioned", which really appeals to me.

It will also make a great hunting/utility blade.

I think if you ordered an EVO, all you'll get is frustrations.........you WILL eventually get it.......but the enjoyment would be tarnished
