tracking.sitemeter.com...?

by search for tracking.sitemeter.com on google for the past hour, in "show search tools" on the left menu, it's really everywhere :)

You guys are being a bunch of little girls. It's an authentication issue with sitemeter.com they probably accidentally put up a .htaccess (basic) authentication file on one of their load balanced servers. if you go to sitemeter.com you may get it also.

Getting it here as well ... and the last time an arm came out of my monitor and slapped me.

Good, I was hoping I wasn't the only one getting this damn thing.

All this knife pron fried my little ol' computer :(

Same here, like a fool I filled on the fields thinking it was Bladeforums, making the request oh well. time to change password!!!

Yep, you need to get out of the habit of doing that.;)
Never a good idea to provide info when YOU have not initiated the contact.

Likely nothing will be hurt in this case, but changing passwords ain't a bad idea.

I also got this. I guess the best we can do now is just press cancel and wait until it gets sorted out.

TIP:
When you get unexpected popups the best thing you can do is to close them with ALT-F4, rather than clicking CANCEL or even the X. A malicious coder can alter what either of those do.

Inconvenient but not the nightmare some folks are making it out to be...:D

Yep, I've gotten it a dozen times so far. I'm sure it will be sorted out before long.

Yep, getting it here too. It's a little annoying, but I'm only getting it every 10 or 20 minutes.

"Enter username and password for http://tracking.sitemeter.com"

Me too. I thought it might be malware and ran my scanner......nothing. Perhaps it wasn't set up correctly. I agree, it's annoying.

According to Adblock Plus, which I run on Firefox, there are several sitemeter.com items on the BF pages I visit.

Firefox shows no tracking cookies being attached to me. So this appears to be only a local annoyance.

Note:
I set Adblock Plus to reject those sitemaster.com items, so now I don't get the annoying little popups.

I blocked the website and it went away.

Opera browser: settings, preferences, advanced, content, block content.

it's the end of the world! grab all your knives and head for your bunkers!!!

(mines a pillow fort in my living room:))

I tried to get on the site a couple of hours ago and there was a strange message from Google/IE saying not just me but others haven't been able to log on to BF.....to try again shortly. Like these guys, when I did get on that same box everyone is talking about popped up and I about crapped. I have a three week old laptop and I don't cruise "questionable" sites but there's definitely a problem.
