I just love this knife, before I left the house I tried cutting a post it and the blade dragged slightly tearing at the paper. After about 10 strops on some wet and dry it was once again cutting off little curls and slicing neat strips.....you gotta love these good old fashioned steels eh !!!!

The park wardens here tried telling me that there were no Cougars in the park, I have so far found one lot of scat and come across deer bones such as this nearly every visit !!!!!

There are also Raccoons as this muddy print proves....

If you have never tried Miners Lettuce ( Montia perfoliata ) take the time to find some, as wild edibles go this stuff is pretty good and there was loads of it where I was today !

Maisy kept stopping to drink from the streams.....

The Douglas Firs round here are like huge dinosaurs !

Remember that fresh empty nest I posted a while back? Well I gave it a quick check again today.....it was a Canadian Robin, I saw it leave the nest !

Great pics again, Pit. Although I think this is the first time I didn't see Maisy actually in the water!

I wish I had some of that color of eggs on Easter. Natural color.

More great pics. yeah miners lettuce is a great find, it was one of the first wild plants I ever tried.

Your hiker pic is taunting me. Mine should hopefully be at my door tommorow morning. I really can't wait.

Hey pitdog, doesn't the possibility of cougars cause you concern?

In our area, they have maintained that the Eastern Cougar was extirpated many years ago, despite numerous sightings, including one by an experienced local trapper. That is, until they got a positive DNA match from some scat found at Lake Erie.

A couple of months back, the radio reported a cougar killed by a car on a local highway (403). There were no really good pictures of the 'cougar' but the next day, they recanted and said it was a coyote. How the hell could anybody make that mistake.

I mentioned this to my daughter and also during the course of the conversation, mentioned how in India, some people would wear masks on the back of their head, because of a tiger's predilection to attack from the rear (like cougars). So she made me this :o :

:D Doc :D

Is that not your real face then Doc ?:D

I do worry a little when I know I'm in Cougar territory although I think they'd be more interested in my dogs than in me. I always make sure to carry a decent sized knife when in those areas though and just hope that my dogs buy me a little time to act !
