Basically I responded to a trade offer in a post, sent my knife, never received anything back and the other party stopped communicating with me.

I saw a couple of knives posted for trade by Crockus. He included an email address in the post so I sent an email with an offer. He was interested and asked me to send my knife to him to look at, and he would send it back or send his knife to me.

timeline:
9-2 I read the trade offer on BF and made the first offer via email
9-4 I sent my knife.
9-10 he reported receiving it.
9-17 he reported that he declined the trade and he was sending my knife back (I never received a package)
9-26 he emailed that he was sorry, had been on vacation, package came back because he had the address wrong, he would mail it again right away

I did not receive a package after that and no further communication from him despite many inquiries by me, also note that around 9-3 timeframe he sent me 5 emails.

Please beware if this user offers you a trade. (username Crockus, email hammer3882@gmail.com, name on the email account is Tim Schloz)

Full disclosure- this happened a few years ago. I am not confrontational and at first I just wanted to ignore it and let it be a lesson learned, but it kept bothering me and I felt like I had to post a warning or I would never get over it. I have all of the emails back and forth between us and I have tried to be as accurate as possible in this post.

Thank you for posting this. I hate thieves just about worse than anything. There are many of us out here who take note and greatly appreciate these threads.

Again thank you.

You are only as good as your word...............

If you say you are going to do something, DO IT!!!!!!

I'm amazed how often this is happening. Maybe I'm naive. My instinct is to trust everyone until I get burnt, and I've yet to ever get burnt. Maybe as I grow older my opinion will reverse to "don't trust anyone until they've earned it".

Send the guy a link to this thread and see what happens.

Nah, I wouldn't say this happens very often. Think of how many successful transactions happen daily and we hear nothing about them. I'd would not recommend trading without some mutually agreed upon terms first. It also is a good idea to check feedback and search the forums for any threads related to the person. Nothing wrong with trying to cover your rear.

Man, I can sincerely say that there are roughly six or seven people on this Board that I'd have no issue trading with. Other than that, I'll never do it. Sending someone a knife when money hasn't changed hands? No thanks. Waaaayyyyy too many of these trades-gone-bad stories in this section. I don't know why people do it, honestly.

Tough break .. Glad you let us know . But next time maybe a bit sooner. In two years time he could have scammed many more
